I have not checked anything . I did an oil change and I found the jackpot if I was panning for gold . Also gained some bad blow by at that point.

Okay I will buy one.

I essentially have a an overdrive no matter what with my 36" tires and stock 3.55 gears lol
My t18 is a head ache. Can't use first gear and third to fourth is high rpm to a lug. The older the t19 had a better ratio that I liked.

What's "the jackpot"?
A bunch of pieces of piston skirt?

I think the T-18's have an even lower 1st than my T-19 did.
Very good for a work truck, not so good for a DD.
Hope the spread of the early T-19 works out well for you.

I hear that many I-6's came with 2.73's and a 4 or 5 speed.
I guess that most of those 'fleet economy' 150's had 28" (or so) tires as well.
Sipping gas but getting to highway speed was measured in weeks.

I'm not sure. I believed it was my rings since the amount of blowby and the instantly dead cylinder I got.

Yeah I hauled about 11k and first gear was still in usable.

I'm probably going to use a zf5 as he wide and close ratio doesn't appear to be too far off and its about the same rpm drop.

Mines a 250 so it got the heavy half ton parts

I guess you'll find out soon enough...

Rings can't end up in the pan without some major piston damage to let them loose.
I'd be interested to see #1 when you get a chance to pull the head.

Could be broken rings (which would suck if the bore is scored to hell and you can't use the block) or you holed a piston due to detonation, or ???

Power washed everything yesterday in the rain.

Sandblasted all day today and painted as I went. Have a few pics I'll upload later.

My skidplates were rough! Putting rubber undercoating on over the paint.

Motor had to be redecked and cylinder sleeved so that raises cost and time.

Still undecided on carb.

And I'll be at about 9.8 compression ratio with my fancy all in one dui distributor.

Going shopping for a trans and tag my car tomorrow .

AutoZone has my steering gear in and has a 94$ core charge. Hell yeah! One more 20+$ purchase and my steering gear is only ten dollars!

What caused all the damage?
How much are you milling off the head?

The deck was mulled because my machinist said it was too rough and the piston was a little sloppy so he sleeved it.

Skid plates were rusty rough.

I stole them off one of my old parts trucks I sold.

It's being milled just enough.

why not give us
pictures of the damaged piston
suggestion of the reason for damaged piston

and really just because a machinist wants to sleeve and mill an engine doesn't mean it needs to be sleeved and milled

I haven't torn the motor sort yet to see the damage.
Once I do, I'll know why it's damaged and what happened to it

I'm pretty certain it happened on my way to base running too fast with no tac.

I trust my machinist. He knows what he's doing. They also build engines for the mopar mag build offs and normally place in the top three. He had a wall of his molar magazines. Plus he actually knows what he's doing.

And I'd trust him over the guy I bought the motor from.

"just enough" to what?
Get the warp out?
Enough to bring it to 9.8:1?
Seems awful high for pump gas in a truck.

He said it had a really rough deck. So I figure just enough to smooth it.
Yeah that is a bit high, but I'll see what I can do with it regarding premium or what type of gas.

It will no longer be a dd. So I'm not too worried about it. Granted I don't want to run race fuel or alcohol

The machinist must have torn it apart by now (since he says it needs milled and sleeved) so you could ask him for pictures or you could check on it I doubt he will mind if you look at your own property..
