You just can't get away from them with any new vehicle.. I have even asked if I can buy my last new vehicle (2013 Mustang) and my truck that is on order without a radio at all so I would not have to be spammed to death by those @holes.. Nothing doing... You just can't buy a vehicle from Ford and now GM without getting Sirius it seems..
You know what I want?
I want a radio with a on/off/volume **** and a tuning ****. Five or six push-buttons for stations. Maybe a single CD player built in. That's it...
Nooooooo.... Nowadays you have to have a space shuttle pilot's license and two college courses to be authorized and trained to take advantage of all this crap they are putting into these vehicles.
This is the God's honest truth.
About a week after we got the Mustang, I turned on the radio while on a drive in the country. It starts prompting me for all this Sirius s#!t and would not play the radio until it had all it's crap. EFF IT! Turned it off and have never turned it back on. Matter of fact, when I ordered the new truck, I gave them the Mustang as one of my trades (my 99 Super Duty is the other) and said they could keep it..
Sirius had spoiled the FUN for me in that car.. So much so, I just didn't even want to drive it. When I traded it in, I did not even have 500 miles on it.
The Mustang was never meant to be a daily driver for us. But we did want it for nice drives in the country or for weekend escapes.
I have tried in vain to get Sirius to put me on their DO NOT CONTACT list, but they continuously call my cell phone, send me emails and snail mails.
SIRIUS IF YOU ARE READING THIS - GO POUND SAND UP YOUR COLLECTIVE ASSES!! Grrrr....
BTW I bought that Mustang in December of 2012 and traded it in June 2014.
One more :
EFF YOU SIRIUS!!!!!
There - I feel better now...
I seriously doubt that I will ever try turning on the radio in the new truck because I don't want them to ruin the experience for me again.
I will be looking into having the radio removed and a regular radio installed.
And yes...
I am really serious...
Big Foot, if you ordered one (I would assume so, since your siggy says 11-12 wks delivery), you should be able to order a plane jane radio. Last time I order a vehicle that's what I did. The last two vehicle that I bought though were off some lot and they had it. Although, I have never had been inundated with Sirius calls, emails etc and the radio still worked regardless if Sirius was current or not.
The standard radio comes with Sirius now.. There's no escape according to my dealer...
Oh wow. I didn't know that, but then again it has been 9 yrs since I've ordered one and I think Sirius was just then starting to be an option (I'm thinking it was XM back then though, it was before the merger I'm thinking, I can't remember, I've slept since then), so they didn't have their hooks in the vehicle market then like they apparently do now.
I've opted to use SIRIUS as we do a bunch of long distance travel - the commercials on regular radio are beyond belief. But with that said, there are really a bunch of useless channels on that 'experience' that I wouldn't listen to ever and quite frankly believe that's the case with many folks. As far as paying for it - those people are absolutely annoying. If you register, they call you the day after to say the bill is on the way. A couple days after that call, they call again and are dunning you for payment even if the bill hasn't arrived (they want your credit card number so you are captured with minimal recourse for cancellation). I bought my truck used and 'enjoyed' Sirius for over 2 months on the PO account. I'll go through this period of my subscription but may bow out and go back to CDs and regular radio as even the stations I've been listening to -- some are starting to sneak in commercials. Would I have bought a NEW truck with this feature if I could have not - no way. I would prefer the old 6 disc CD along with a decent stereo like my '06 had. But since my budget wont allow for a new truck .... I get what's available.
I only listen to NASCAR on Sirius, even then there are way too many commercials
I'm not a fan of loud music any more
Even that channel is starting to put me to sleep with their call-in shows. I did listen to the full Pocono race as I passed through Pennsylvania and New York. a couple weeks ago so that was a good day for Sirius. Music - only channels 5-7 and 56 and only occasionally, 19 and 69. The rest

LOL... How many times do you need to hear the same old woman with three teeth and a cheek full of chew calling in to the talk show to say "That Jimmy Johnson, he done made a deal with the devil...."......
I could listen to a race but those talk shows are too darned stupid for me...
Yes, I have listened to that channel in a friend's rig while on a two day trip and I could not wait to get out of the truck..
That feeling my truck is going to leave me stranded and have a hefty repair bill at the end of the day.
After 1 radiator replaced and reading others' problems, I do not like the feeling that my truck is going to leave me stranded in a time of need. I know that feeling is a fact of life when relying on a machine to get us from place to place and all vehicles of every manufacturer are prone to issues, but I still don't like it. With all the electronic sensors, emissions controls, and the fact that a computer is actually assisting my driving, newer vehicles are more a liability than past models. Recommended maintenance will only go so far.
But, at the end of the day......I still really like these trucks!

I wonder if any of our Vendors have picked up on the fact that these 60+k trucks have crappy radiators and are coming out with welded aluminum replacements???

Add me to the list on that... And no matter how much you scrub regardless of what you use, it just seems to get worse...
But I don't hate it nearly as bad as SIRIUS RADIO! . .

Mine gets like that but a good scrub with Clorox wipes seems to do the trick. I just scrubbed mine about 2 weeks ago and the gooey feeling is gone. A good application of 303 Protectant once it is clean helps as well.
Matt - I will try the Clorox wipes.. I think the wife even has those already...
Thanks for the tip!
Got anything that gets rid of SIRIUS RADIO????
Like gum stuck to your shoe - it's stuck to the dashboards of our otherwise wonderful rigs!!!
Don't subscribe when the free period ends! Whatever you do, don't listen to it because you will get hooked and subsequently suckered into pay for radio!
