I am ready , Had propane heaters installed 3 weeks ago as backup to the heat pump , have a 6000 watt generator , coleman lights and stoves . gas grill on the deck , city water , Cars and truck full of gas , tractor has diesel , cans all filled with gas and diesel . Wife stocked up on milk bread and meat yesterday , and we have deer at the feeder everyday , If things get real bad . I think I am good for a week or two .
Ya sound in pretty good shape Dr. Better than me and I should know better as I live this every winter to one extreme or another it seems.
It don't matter. One pay check to the next. When my Lord calls me I will go so why worry about being ready.
Aint gonna happen. Aint never gonna be prepared for it all. So I just take it one
storm at a time.
Doc it looks like Whitesburg is going to get hit with up to 5 or 6 inche's to night. Cabin fever is going to continue for a while.
Actually, I think they're saying we're gong to get hit again tomorrow. Heck, at this point, I say bring it. Getting used to it. Our Kentucky winters have certainly cranked it up a notch or two, haven't they?

I'm taking notes. Sounds like you've got it covered. Don't forget to put your chain saw in your vehicle.
As far as climate change , It's nothing new . think what oil comes from , decaying plants . Where are the greatest oil deposits ? Yes in the worst places for plant life , and wasn't the middle of this country a sea at one time . Then someone told me about things call glaciers that covered large parts of the world . Climate change happens , and there is nothing we can do to stop it . Just learn to enjoy the ride , because you can't get off .
ok guys (and gals) I'm sick of looking through the threads and not really finding the answer to my question so I'm going to post here and hopefully you can help me out or at least point me in the right direction.
recently bought an '04 f350 super duty quad cab 8' bed 4x4 6.0l power stroke. truck runs fantastic and i love it, huge step up from my rotted out '93 f150. problem being that it pops out of 4low when its shifted pack into drive. manual locking hubs with manual 4x shift lever. goes into 4h smooth and easily. getting it into 4l is a bitch and then it pops out. bought it knowing about this condition and was hopping it was an easy fix but i have yet to find a solution. i did however see that one poster had an f250 with the same issue and a response about adjusting the shift linkage. is that the case with my truck too? or is there another solution? also saw on that post from 6 years ago that there is possibly a fork with wear pads inside the transfer case that could be causing the issue? any suggestions? truck has 230000 on it.
Friend, I do believe you're lost! But what the heck, I have a question, why are you trying to shift it into 4-LOW? Are you trying to pull a building down? What does it do in 4-HIGH? Does it kick out then? The mods will be along shortly to transport your question about 60 years into the future.
Getting mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow in south Arkansas tonight. Forgot to fill wood rack in the house this morning, had to do it tonight. That walkway behind me is 8' off of the ground and sloped down toward the shed where the wood is stacked. Talk about walking a slippery slope
For those of you getting some snow right now this video and picture might make you feel better. The video I shot a few weeks ago at a friends house in Manistee, Michigan where they get lake effect snow off Lake Michigan every time the wind blows. The black boxes sticking just above the surface of the snow are mailboxes. Lots of fun . . . if you like snow.
The picture was taken while I was standing on the ice on frozen Lake Superior in below zero weather. The point of land in the distance is Whitefish Point near where the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in November 1975. Many people live up there and their first car is a snowmobile. The stop signs are on the main roads in many places where snowmobile trails cross, snowmobiles have the right of way.
I lived in Atlanta during SnowJam '82 and it took me 4 1/2 hours to make the normal 17 minute drive home from work near Stone Mountain. So if you are in the middle of a snow storm you can stay at home in front of the fire . . . or you can get out in it and see something different . Just dress warmly. Either way send pictures.
Good to hear. Maybe it will freeze some of those zombies out that are walking around down there. I've been watching that Walking Dead show. It's pretty wild. Is any of that filmed anywhere near you?
I think it's filmed on the south side of Atlanta. Last year, one of my students was the girlfriend to one of the main actors(never watched the show so I don't know which one) on the show. I'm thinking he was a ninth grader last year (shrug).
Just a heads up . Tuesday at 5:30 pm . SC national guard has been called up , GA governor declares a state of emergency , Obama declares GA a disaster area . GA power has moved 400 lineman to help restore power . All schools, colleges , and many business already closed for Wednesday . Here they are calling for 7-10 inches of snow and 1/10 inch of ice . We are being told power will be out for days . I wonder what Noreaster would do to this area ?
School is called off for tomorrow. I'm hunkered down and waiting to see what happens. I bought extra gas for the generator, but I haven't started it in a couple of years. I also have plenty of firewood for the fireplace. I'll cross that bridge if I get to it.

Any chance it would be Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl? He would be the only one of the main characters around that age.
This is gonna be a funny storm. And the weather channel has apparently started naming them--they're calling this one "Pax". Whatever. They're saying that you guys down in Tennessee are gonna get hammered, and Kentucky is gonna be spared mostly, except for the "border" counties between Virginia and Kentucky. And, yep, I live in a border county. Here we go again.

We don't get the Weather Channel anymore on our DirecTV selection. No loss though. They have more dramatic shows, like Coast Guard and Storms, than the do the weather! Anyhow, Pax is Latin for Peace. Makes no sense. The Weather Channel names them to get more viewership...
