I say a newsWinston-Salem,NC around 1985 I came up behind a pickup pulling a 3 whee clip yesterday, did't really catch the city but it showed a scene and in the background there was a garbage truck with a plow on it plowing the street.
Plows on city sanitation trucks has been standard practice in many urban areas where snow falls routinely. With the subcontracting of services, the opportunity to re-purpose vehicles like this is much less.
Ok that will be close to me only 110 miles to Atlanta , and I think he will be retired by then . Nice seeing you stepping up to the plate . Maybe Stone mountain would be a good place to have it .
Started raining and blowing here last night. What we call a warm Chinook wind.
Snow is almost gone. Bout 8-10 inches that fast. But the roads where it was plowed and packed it's
an Ice rink with standing water.
I damn sure ain't leaving home without tire chains.
when I first became aware of snow plows...here in Syracuse, n.y. it was always snow plow units under the middle of the garbage trucks. that was in the late 1950's.....my dad's const co. had a few h.d. fords w plows on the front of pick ups like we are use to now and I first drove a truck for money... back then all the f-250's that were h.d.4x4's were tuff to drive. no p.s. and a bear of a 4sp. and no p. angle plows ! you had to get out of the truck, pull the pin and turn the plow by hand and then put the pin back in. jump back in the truck and wait til the next time your plow needs changed. now, a 110ld woman wouldn't even chip a nail doing major plowing. thats progress I guess

After we got 8" in Central PA on Thurs into Fri morning and spending most of the day shoveling and blowing snow, I woke up to snow this morning. It is 12:30 as I type and it is still snowing but has slowed down quite a bit. I just measured 4 inches on the walk between my house and garage.... So I am about ready to go out and do it all over again!
Those of you south of Mason-Dixon can expect some pretty warm air, it's blowing across here last couple days. Expecting near 70 today, a little breezy, but it's moving straight east. So I guess we'll be hearing about the flooding next...
Here on the coast of Maine, I think I get today off from plowing today. I plowed about 10 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday and will wake up tomorrow to plow again. I expect about the same amount by morning but it is not supposed to be nearly as wet. I plow with my 1953 Farmall Cub tractor. It has not missed a storm of plowing since 1978!
