I just purchased a 1705 for my 96 stroke and I plugged it in and it will not come on. We tried it in my buddies 02 and it worked? Is there something different about the diagnostic connectors? Or should I check somewhere in the truck?
I had the older 2 program unitin my old 1997 and pulled the program when I sold it to buy my current 2002 last year. I did not feel that it was handling the shift points properly and contacted SCMT. They offered to update my old unit for just a charge of the shipping. I got my old tuner back with 3 programs.

Had the same problem, it was a fuse

It does, don't make the same mistake I made. I upgraded the valves/springs in the tranny, and then added the SCMT ... the shifts are quite firm. I got a new plate from a performance place that you can drill out the individual holes to affect each gear shift. I will drill out the shift from 1st to second and second to third to soften them a bit.
If you plan to upgrade the shift valve you'll want to use the Predator instead of the Superchips unit because the Predator will allow you to adjust the shift.
I just purchased a superchips tuner. This may be a dumb question but which setting is going to give me the best fuel economy? I've been told set it to 110 but it just seems illogical. Thanks for any help.

I just purchased a used tuner for my 02 crew cab diesel that has three settings, does the tuner itself know based on the vin to upgrade to 110hp vs the 80hp setting on older trucks? I just ran the truck and it is running better but not what I had expected. My buddy has a chevy crew diesel with a microtuner that seems alot faster. I also have a Magnaflow exhaust, any ideas on a cold air intake?
camper..one of those pop tops you see around...maybe at the most 1200 lbs...can i get away w/the highest setting?..microtuners here already!..fastest shipping ever...howd you do that?
thanks

region 18, the tuner does it all for you, if your using superchips, the first time you plug it in you download you factory settings. Then it ask you if you would like to tune the truck of check diagnostics, you need to make sure you do the Tune and select the "high performance" If you accidentally selected the "tow" or "perf tow" you wont get near the power as on the "high performance" which is the 110. I could tell a huge difference in driving, my truck wants to spin the tires at a little touch of the pedal, and the tranny has deffinitley firmed up. Check to make sure you selected the right setting. By the way, I have not modified intake or exhaust, so you should still see much improvement stock.. I hope this helps.

well im a cynical type of guy but when i installed the microtuner and got not only a noticeable differance in power increase over the banks pos chip...my mileage went up at least 25 miles a tank!...and my tranny feels brand new!...its unbelievable...and i was racing guys home up hills and booting it around town all day...totally impressed..what a great product!...i cant believe i spent so much money (3times what i paid for the microtuner) and got such crappy performace from the banks chip...
Josh, the SCMT is powered through the OBD II port. The OBD II port is fused with I believe the cigar lighter fuse. There were a few trucks in the 1996/1997 vintage, which gave a lot of problems powering up the SCMT. You might contact SC over the net. I found them very helpful.
