The fuel will float on top of the coolant. A friend of mine is going through this very situation and the dealer said it was injector cups so they replaced them all and guess what, the fuel returned in the coolant, when we checked the coolant the other day I couldn't smell the diesel just by sniffing the degas bottle opening, I had to stick my finger down in the coolant then I could smell the diesel on my finger. Another tell tale sign is not being able to get the degas cap off without the use of a tool like channel locks, this is due to the diesel causing the rubber to swell.
I dug through the way back machine (my cell phone) to when I replaced the degas tank the first time. I had to pull some coolant out then to correct the level a bit, nothing like now. Once it was set, it never went up or down. That's what makes this so frustrating. A 1200 mile trip and I'm full up again. Anyway, I took this picture of the coolant. You'll notice the darker junk at the bottom, I assumed that was just sand and castings that collected in the degas tank. Does this pic give any indication of fuel in the coolant?
You have some strange colors going on there, but it definitely looks like there is some kind of fluid besides coolant in there.
There's only three different fluids that pass through the engine, fuel, engine oil and coolant. It can't be too difficult to pinpoint the source of coolant contamination.

There is a forth one if you count the transmission cooler in the radiator.
It could happen. But I am not sure what the % chance of that happening.
The stuff on the bottom looks like it red. Or maybe I just am not
seeing it right.
Brett all the times it got brought up about inject cup replacement NOT Working
Didn't you Warn Your Buddey??
Or did he have it done before he spoke up about it??
Isn't Bulletproof Diesel working on a customer usable cup replacement and/or crack repair kit that is suppose to last? Just sayin'. I thought I read that before.

I read that too, but I believe they are still in the testing phase. It would definitely be a cheaper option, but I wouldn't feel too confident in repaired cracked head.

If I remember correctly, that dark stuff was both floating in the tank and at the bottom of the tank. Mostly at the the bottom which made me think it was the sand castings. I don't have a coolant filter yet. I assumed when I filled this bottle that the castings settled to the bottom and what I was looking at was well used coolant, hadn't thought of other fluids mixed into it. Smelled like coolant though, couldn't smell or see anything else.
