I don't have the permissions to post attachments. I'll have to convert the PDF invoices to JPG's and post them that way. Stay tuned.

Charging 80 hours labor is a bunch of crap.

Most likely they did book time and just added it up.
A+B+C+D= we screw you
When everyone knows that to do C you have to do A & B first
and the time to do C has A & B built into it.

Then to have the service writer lie and say the heads were off
when they weren't.

You know people are going to read this thread and not want to
to THAT dealership. That would be a good thing.

It's sad that Fred or anyone had to take that hit at all.

It was 26 hours. If it was 80 I would still be walking home.

26 hours is quite a lot for 1 head. I charge 24 hours to do both head gaskets, head studs, oil cooler, egr cooler (or delete), dummy plugs, stc fitting, oil and filter and coolant flush, clean the intake and turbo and any other small stuff the engine may need while it is apart. And I beat the time pretty easily.

We had a discussion when I was picking the truck up. I explained to them the hours that Ford states it takes to replace the right side head. I also explained that they can't be possibly charging me for the labor for the EGR and the injector. They said I agreed to the hours, which both my wife and didn't. They said the hours I quoted were for warranty work, not for general repairs. They didn't like me trying to get the labor amount reduced. Best I could get off the bill was $250. Basically, this repair made up for money they lost on warranty work.

Grapevine is north of Dallas. Great town. Lots to see and do. Wonderful campground there, the Vineyards. It's owned by the city.

You should start a new thread titled " My experiences at Grapevine Ford In Grapevine Texas"
That way all the search engines will pick it up.

Call me Evil and Nasty. Bad publicity is just that.....Bad.

When we were at the Texas State Fair, I talked to a few people from Ford. My angle was getting some help with the repair cost, not complain about the dealer. They gave me the phone number for Ford customer service and said to give them a call. I called them on Monday, I explained the entire situation and asked them if they could cover the cost of just the head. Very long shot, I can hear all of you laughing but I had to try. I told them honestly that I thought the cost of the repair was extreme. They put me in touch with the Ford Service Rep for Grapevine Ford. I told her the same story again, she said there was nothing that she knew of that could help. She was going to investigate and call me back. She did actually call me back. Everything she said was no, no, no. My truck was too old, too many miles, not enough details in the Oasis report about scheduled maintenance being done on time. I told her I didn't know that it was mandatory that all maintenance be done at the dealer. The Magnuson-Moss act prevents that from being required. She only offered an X plan on a new truck. I said I can't afford this repair let alone a new truck! She said there's' nothing that Ford will do, have a nice day.

I'm going to send this saga to a few people within Ford. Not expecting anything money wise but hope to raise awareness of the negative attitudes within the company.

I mentioned this in a previous post on here not too long ago. I haven't met a Ford Dealer yet that doesn't add up all the shop hours individually...whether they are going to be 'in there' or not. I've been screwed numerous times so I no longer take my vehicles to any dealer.

Apparently biginch and some of the other guys are a rarity. I'd love to be able to take mine to guys like them. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury.
