Oh, and did u meet with the transmission evenly? I have a 5.0 in mines already, but the mounts are high, i really like your lower center of gravity idea. The guys on fast and loud ran into the problem of the support being too high, so they cut half of it out.
I plan on building a center console that will house a 10" sub, shifter bezel and the head unit.
Maybe I'll throw some cup holders in too. LOL
I'm also building some kick panels that will house high end Alpine 3 way component speakers. The amps will be mounted in recessed panels behind the bucket seats. I have about 2000 watts of power I'll be stuffing into the cab.
Just my opinion; I would cut the seat backs down so the top of the seat back is level or below the window line. Seats that stick up above the window line just dont look right to me.

I totally agree and had plans of taking out the head rests and putting a new piece of leather in to cover where the holes would be.
After some further thinking, I am going to leave them (head rests) in. They are way safer with the headrests and also a lot more comfortable at the same time.
I'm going to tint the rear window pretty dark so that you can't see them from the outside.
After some more testing with the paint, I finally decided that this thing is NOT going to be all pretty and shiny.
I started off wanting to build a rat rod shop truck and things quickly got out of hand and it started to become something too nice. I had to step back and re-evaluate what the ultimate goal is: something reliable, easy to maintain, ride nice and look old. With the paint glossy, it was will be just too much white and not true to my original idea.
With that said, here are some pics of the hood after I shot a couple coats of single stage Wimbeldon White on it:
And here is the same hood after me taking some 400 grit wet/dry to it and a Scotch Brite pad to it. The color looks off due to the fluorescent lights late last night:
I'm going to let it weather a bit before shooting some semi-gloss clear over the top to seal it up. The plan it to distress the entire truck in the same fashion to get that aged looked with all new sheet metal underneath.
I may end up painting the grille and bumpers a silver or gunmetal gray if it turns out to be too much white.
I was not really happy about the rake of the truck and the overall diameter of the rear tires compared to the front. It was having a sort of drag truck look to it, and I wanted to lower it more out back.
I'm more interested in keeping a low center of gravity and having it handle like it's on rails.
I came across a really nice set of used tires on Craigslist and I'm glad I took the drive to pick them up.
I scored (3) Goodyear Eagle 255/50R16's for $55 and I had them mounted up on a spare set of Crown Vic steelies that I had laying around the shop.
These wheels are about an inch taller that the front 225/60R16's up front, but they are right at 10" wide and look way better in my opinion.
Some pics of them mounted on the truck and some pics of the 9" or so of ground clearance between the floor and my rocker panels. (Pics of beer can for reference only - no alcoholic beverage consumption allowed at the shop - during working hours anyway). LOL
Ok, I've been busy and haven't updated the post in a while.
Tonight I shot some paint on the doors and tomorrow, I'll sand through with some 400 grit wet/dry paper and shoot a couple of coats of semi-gloss clear over them.
Took some pics tonight before I left the shop.
And here is another view of the truck as it sits right now. I'm kinda diggin' the ole' worn out look.
Man, that painted hood looks so good. I like the old patina look; but to put effort into painting a car to then put more effort into making it look weathered makes no sense to me? The truck will be awesome either way, but new paint would have done the truck well. Great build regardless.

2X. But I'm trusting AREA to pull it off.................
I never understood the whole patina look and why people wanted it. That's just me.
The only person he needs to impress and make happy with the truck is himself, so do what you like as long as it's safe on the road.
Lot of cool stuff going into this build. Keep it up Area.
