But they have no "patina"? I would leave the spacers out. Fastest way to tear up the bearings is to put spacers on wheels; and the wheel placement looks good where it is now. Gives it more of a street rod look with the front wheels tucked in a little. Pushing them out on the front just doesn't look right to me. But hey; its your truck so do what makes you happy. Those are bad *** wheels BTW.
Honestly I don't like newer rims like that on any old rig, but I can see how they suit your needs well and I'm glad to see you got a great deal and you're liking how they look!
That sounds muy rapido! About 10 years ago, I built a Manx knock off, with fiber glass body, rag top, and a 1776 cc "Daily Driver" engine. I went with all the German parts I could find, and CB 044 heads, and blah, blah, blah good stuff for durability, and the long run. It is still running strong, no smoke, and believe it or not, no oil leaks... Yeah, I know, I keep pulling the dip stick to see if there is oil in it... I will see if I can import one of the latest photos..
I have it down in Baja, and I love it on the dirt roads... Oh, I added a bus IRS transaxle, which gives it the low ratios I needed for off road.. yeah, a lot of Baja is still off or poor dirt roads...
Cool project. I am doing similar with my 71 F100 Short Bed. CV IFS, Mark V111 IRS, stroked out 4.6 DOHC, 4R70W. I have everything but the trans. Got the front and rear assemblies this week. Cleaning them up now.
I too am not a fan of the big wheel, but that looks very classy bro. Understated and business like. It's an art to blend different styles and you definitely have the eye.
