How is the ride/handling with the Eaton/460 combo? I'm trying to decide if I want to just throw in some stock crown vic springs or go with the stock height or maybe 1" lower Eatons. The squat from the 460 plus the coils already being cut out of the springs that are in there will be too low for my liking. Eatons website shows their springs as having a higher rate so I don't think I would get as much squat as I would with the stockers.
Like I said, once I get time to actually start working on the truck itself I will start up a new build thread. Right now I'm just focused on gathering parts so I can put together the big block and also tying up some loose ends with other projects so I can get them out of the way and make more room in the garage.
I had a 302 when I put the springs in. The 460 makes it a bit nose heavy compared to the 302. Truck rides great. I do think it handled better with the 302. It still handles very well though. If I were going to auto cross or something like that I would go back to the 302.
If you are not too far into parts you might want to consider the new AFR's. They flow stupid #'s on the intake and exhaust side. Been compared to larger BBC Big Chief heads.
The new AFR's reportedly flow really well, but they still aren't available to the general public. Supposedly they are going to be available at the beginning of 2015, but even that isn't set in stone. And who knows what the price will be, they have invested quite a bit in the development of those heads. I've already got the pistons with the valve notches set up for the SCJ or P51 heads. Either one are plenty capable of supporting a 700 hp pump gas motor.

I don't have any plans for auto cross or anything like that. It is going to be mainly a street cruiser with an occasional trip to the drag strip. I will most likely go with the Eatons, just need to decide where I want the ride height to be.
I went to the junkyard last week to see if I could find an older T5 out of a Mustang or an S10 so I could swap my tailhousing for a mechanical speedo.
I didn't have any luck finding one, but I did find another 1352-260 T5 out of an 01 Mustang that is nearly identical to the 93-95 Cobra T5 that is rated at 300 ft/lbs of torque. It's the same one that I have in my truck now. For $72 out the gate, I couldn't pass it up. The Mustang was wrecked hard in the back and the nice part about it was the PO had just put a brand new clutch setup in the car and the bolts weren't overly tight. I was able to get the transmission out with limited tools in about an hour:
I felt like working on the interior recently and sanded and painted both the door panels (still looking for a set without the chrome and black trim) and one of the F500-F700 instrument clusters that I scored a couple of weeks ago. I took the whole cluster apart and painted the black surround and also painted the needles:
We put a 76 or 77 f700 chrome cluster into my brother's 70 f100. We also used the gauges out of a 66 b600 school bus. ( they look like yours )
I don't remember the website, but there is an early bronco site that sells electric tachs that match your gauges.
I can email you pics
