After having to drop everything and run to my MIL's and rescue her from a broken drain pipe under her kitchen sink, I was able to finish my little pickup project.
Took the pickup and camper into Dallas for fuel late yesterday afternoon and then back home via the farm. About 30 miles round trip. The transmission heat gauge seems to be working and pleasantly the trans temp appears to be great, if not a tad on the cool side. Only got up to 168* after several miles of driving with a few minor hills.
