Wish someone would impart these words of wisdom on my parents and my mother-in-law! After the last couple of days, I am convinced they have conspired to do me in!
I am redefining "take it easy" for everyone who is under Doctor's orders to "take it easy" for the next week or two. Oh well, most of those Doc's are city folks anymore anyway and don't have much of a clue about country life.
Can't really say they are a "burden", even if they are. Guess I owe them a few years for keeping me alive my first few years. God knows I was a dare devil out for the adrenalin rush......................not sure what I can say to justify a mother-in-law. Oh, yes.......I like sleeping in my bed - dog house is pretty small.
Overloads. Everything I have found on this pickup says it is a "heavy duty", something about it being Ford's forerunner to what they now call the "Super Duty"?
The service manager at the RV shop seemed to be impressed and said it was a "sweet" set up and looked really good with the camper on it. I'll just have to take their word for it. If it keeps the rain off, cooks a fish or a hotdog in a rain storm and the pickup gets us there and home again, I'm a happy camper. (Don't let the warden know......I'm still twitching on no tent and no tool box in the back of the pickup....just seeing how far I can milk this.)
Super Duty is just a sales hook.............Your rig is every bit as stout as the newer ones, minus the $65,000 payment book.
I have never been so impressed with the new SDs that I needed to throw down the equivalent of another mortgage on one.........My F-250 does all the same stuff and it's PAID for!
Fantastic camper! a little big for my taste, but a real nice rig! can't beat a Lance...........Watch the gas pumps with the jacks, and low branches on back roads.

Can't say I've ever had the gas pump problem. The low branches, well lets just say, I learned a little something about overhead clearance when I had to replace one of those BIG vent lids/escape hatch on the top of the old camper. I'd love to say the warden was driving....................
This one has a spendy A/C unit on the roof. You can darn well bet that if clearance is anywhere near questionable, there will be a ground guide out front watching while we "inch" forward.
I saw a guy tear the front jack on the drivers side OFF the camper by not watching as he turned out of the pumps to leave.........left a lasting impression on me.
I got to the point where I removed them after the camper went on the truck, one less thing for the wife to walk into in the dark, AND a 100lbs weight savings.
Hadn't really thought of taking the jacks off. Wouldn't want to cycle the mounting bolts too much. With these newer campers with the metal reinforced corners that may not be as big a problem. The old camper was all wood on the corners.
Usually, if we go someplace for more than a couple of days, the camper comes off at the camp site so we have the pickup to drive around in. My buddy has the electric jacks on his camper. Says he can have the camper on or off in 5 minutes. Claims it takes him longer to put on / take off the tie downs than it does to load or unload the camper. I know when I've gone camping with them, I've gone down to their camp site after unloading our tote boxes, and his camper was already on the ground. I hadn't even unpacked the tent yet.
Guess I'm about to get a lesson in the modern day version of "roughing it".
Oh, and this camper has outside 12 volt area floods on both sides and the back. If my wife walk's into a corner jack, well - I'll leave that one alone.
