Good afternoon everyone. In for a late lunch and then off and running again.
Tiny, is your part time job out on a ranch/farm? I noticed you listed picking up brush, cleaning stalls and kennels as well as some equipment maintenance. That sounds an awful lot like what I do. Throw in some spraying and in general on call trouble shooter light vet work and personal medic and you have it all covered.
The biggest difference is that I don't get paid - modern slave labor. How did you get so lucky?
Jim, yes it's a small farm/tree farm and kennel. We've been taking our dogs there for years. They needed some extra help and I needed some extra money to help pay for some stuff. It's hard work! I'm out of shape! I'm making about 1/3 of what I get paid at my normal job... Sounds a lot like farming/ranching doesn't it. They don't even own a grease gun! I was astounded and told them I would take care of lubing the tractor and other equipment too.
I got my super urgent rush project finished in record time... Now I'm on the downhill slide toward quitting time. Thankfully, my mind is already there.
Afternoon Tiny. Just got a call from a guy in Wash that has a lathe for sale. He wants $900 for it, and he just found out I have a valve grind bench and engine boring bar for sale,. Both of which he has been LOOKING FOR!
Maybe I get my lathe, and some cash!
Then I just got an email from a guy that I'm trying to buy a Milling machine from. He has one guy that's wishy-washy about the mill and if he doesn't buy it by Fri i'm next in line!
Ya'll can have your rain back. Wow, I have never seen this much rain in a season.
Shop'll be finished tomorrow. What a long 6 weeks this has been
Don,the mills went yesterday, Loaded several on the rollback from the floor in the lower shop. The Southbend vertical was in the upper shop
I had torn the wall down , and pulled it to the edge with the skid steer,so we could back the truck right to the edge, and load it straight on the truck.
I forgot, we put it there with the IH, which was a 5 ton.
We were in the Pete, which is a 10 ton, and sits quite a bit taller, so we couldn't raise the bed high enough to get it level with the deck.
This next part is going to make you cry
I hooked a chain to it, and yanked it off the deck with the truck.
The table broke in half, and the head ripped off.
Oh well. it's being run through the Scrap yard's shredding mill now, so someone can have a new Prius......
My wife and I have always subscribed to the theory that when things are meant to be they just work out. When you try to force things to come together (read square peg in a round hole) it usually ends badly.
I'm glad to hear that you have two solid leads. Hopefully things work out... seems like you've got several paying jobs lined up to replenish your $$ supply too.
I want to cry.........But the guy with the Cincinnati #2 mill just called. It's mine for $1,300 if I want it! Charlie, we are gonna need to talk about tooling.........I'm gonna need as much MT50 as I can afford from you........
My heart goes out to you Charlie. That must have broke your heart. It did mine......
$670....................Now I really am crying........Such a crime for such sweet old machinery. Makes me want to go out and blow up a prius...........
