I am a Union Lineman. (subcontracted out to power companies)
You have to remember, I am Single, no kids, No debt(other than mortgage that unemployment covers) and THIS is my only Hobbie. I dont hunt, fish, vacation, etc. All my money goes into my trucks
I bought the truck 2? years ago.
Been doing little things like the rear spring hangers and shackles the 1st weekend I had it.
Then the bug shield and stock sized tires went along with rear brakes, diff cover and era axle seals.
Then the trans was dropped to take care of bad syncros in 2nd and 5rd. While the trans was out I put in a Valair clutch and SMF. Also put in the S H I T T Y MBRP full exhaust.
Then the truck failed inspection for worn ball joints, seized u-joints and worn brakes, SO BY BY TTB and hello D60 w/ RSK
Gauges also were soon to follow since the previous owner had the chip, but no gauges. After I got the gauges, I realized how hot the truck got so i sent the chip back to get reburned
I left it more or less like that for about a year.
then This past june I decided to take care of the rust. I have been collecting parts since I bought it. Put a used set of fenders and rad support on. A used door and New tailgate. Cut all the rust out of the bedsides and bolted the dually fenders on(little more complicated than it sounds). I was laid off for the end of sept and most of oct so That gave me the time I needed to get ALOT done and basically finish it for the OK truck show the end of OCT
It is "done" for now. I am thinking about ditching the splitshot Cali 120cc injectors and putting in a set of stage ones or Possibly stage 2s w a D66 turbo. Also some E-fuel But I have to do some more research to make sure I can still tow what i want without it gettting to hot. No point in having all that power if I cant use it when I tow(the trucks primary use)
Moog is garbage in the past 10 years, I dont care if it has a lifetime warranty, I dont want to have to do the job 3 times because of an INFERIOR product. And believe it or not, the XRF are cheaper priced.
Did not do an outer seal. All they do is hold IN dirt. I got my axles seals IIRC form Randy's Ring and Pinion or Jeff Bronco Graveyard
i agree with the inferior product to an extent i worked at a parts store if the moog parts still had the brass stamped on the bottom on ball joints tie rods ect they were good but anything else was crap,
Any paticular reason you deceided to go with the dually setup?
