Morning Scott. Yeah, I'm not liking that part at all. But, when we get vehicles, we tend to keep them 10-15 years, so I don't mind getting brand new. This was her first brand-new car, so she is pretty excited. My job to keep her happy, so mission accomplished! How was the weekend?
Great job takin' care of the wife. Now a days couples forget to do this for each other instead they choose to focus on selves.
Pretty warm over here. Heat index was over 100 all weekend. After living in UT and NM for the past 8 yrs, I am just not used to humid heat. 100 is nothing if it is dry out. The humidity sucks the energy out of ya. LOL
I hear you there... My weekend didn't go as planned as typical, but did manage to get some work done in the shop, despite dripping like I was in the shower... I have an old cattle fan that is being used for this kind of thing though.
What day is your interview? This week right? Keep us posted on that. Did you make a final decision as to which you and your wife think would work best?
Monticello is Thursday, which is the one I think will work best and actually feel that will offer. Friday is in Des Moines. They want to just do a one year contract, which has its good and bad points of it.

I would take the 151 commute to having to deal with Des Moines traffic any day. LOL The counties do a great job at keeping 151 cleared in the winter also. Easy drive.
Used to be pretty wicked between Anamosa and Monticello... Open and flattish, not good when a nasty one rolls in. Typically I avoid the interstate when the heavy snow storms roll in...too much traffic makes for hard travel due to the packing effect or black ice.

No kidding. Then you get the people that think they can stop as fast as they started. LOL See ya in the next ditch.
Something that is new to me is the semi's that roll or tip on I80. Seems like every winter I see at least one or two new tracks from them going off the interstate. In all the states that I have lived in (9 total) I have never seen it as bad as on I80 from Quad Cities to Des Moines.
Some areas have the highway raised to smooth it out, but that makes it high wind profile. I have actually been pushed off of the road in an area like that before in an ice storm. I think also part of the problem these days is likely less driver skills in handling these situations, like the auto shift functions on the transmissions. The driver forgets about pushing in the clutch, or maybe has less road feel, I don't know, but the big thing is less knowledgeable drivers running these rigs any more. Heck, they now have the divider fences up all over on 80, and they are tested out regular without the snow and ice...
