the deals in the vents are air fresheners i need to take them out since they are way dead but keep forgetting.
i am lucky to have this beautiful state as a background
friday we took off headed for McCarthy/Kennecott alaska which is at the end of a 60 mile dirt/gravel road that was made from the road road that used to run along it at the turn of the century. the 60 miles of rough road took us about 3 hours. once you reach the end of the McCarthy road you have to park and walk a foot bridge over. then a shuttle take you to the old mining town of Kennecott which was shut down in 1938.
after viewing the old town we crossed back over to the parking area then camped right along the Kennecott river..amazing views!
Saturday morning we loaded up and headed for Valdez alaska..the snow capital of alaska! made much better time on the McCarthy road this time...down to 1 hour 45 mins woohoo! got into Valdez got some food and set up camp.
Sunday morning we loaded up and beat feat home to anchorage...307 miles and i did it in 5 hours flat! most say thats close to impossible due to the roads/traffic and speed limit of 55mph but i had a avg speed of 66mph

all in all and AMAZING trip! i'd never been to any of these places even living here my whole life. the Excursion ran wonderfully and gave me great MPG!! i detailed her up tonight inside/out to make up for all the abuse all weekend lol she did some 4x4in and even touched her tires in the ocean.
i have a ton of pics..so i'm just gonna post'em
me and my friends about to head out...i'm far right

adding up all my gas from the trip i got 14.1 MPG for 550 or so miles of the trip! 13.3mpg on the section that had 120 miles of trail/dirt road.
we were dying! and i got even more sun burnt haha

last night i detailed her all up...washed and did the whole interior. also put my sub/amp and third row back in.

i cleaned it all up because today i finally installed my brand new DC 20s and cooper zeon LTZ's after a month plus of waiting!

i'm getting some of the vids uploaded. heres alittle info about the McCarthy road which we traveled and it was fun and interesting to say the least.
The road does not actually lead all the way to Kennecott; visitors must cross the Kennecott River by a footbridge built in the 1990s. Historically, one had to cross the river on a self-propelled tram. Visitors can walk to McCarthy in about 15 minutes, although shuttle vans and busses are available during the tourist season from the bridge to both McCarthy and Kennecott.[1] The road is not maintained during winter.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
its been sunny and warm this whole week, the excursion was dirty and i could not stand it...
sooo i finally gave her that waxing shes needed. last time i waxed it was last fall when i buffed it all out. man what a difference a good hand wax does for depth and shine.
also painted the hitch gloss black again, seems like once a year does her just fine.
lotta pics but i was just so happy with how it turned out!

Enjoy.
topped the excursion off tonight, checked the oil in prep for our road trip this weekend. leaving Friday morning for Fairbanks. going to Chena Hot springs which i've been a few times but this time we are staying at the resort. the family in town is taking my expedition so i'll have both my trucks up there lol
need to give her a wash before leaving, but tonight i took some poser flex shots. she flex's pretty good i must say! i was a bit worried about rubbing the rear tires when stuffed but nope!

i also snapped this pic at work today, i think we have a thing for red fords.
