so March 1st marked the END of the emissions inspections in anchorage. so we no longer have to have ANY kind of inspection done on our cars/trucks! so freaking happy about this!
so to mark this event i pulled my inspection sticker off my windshield because it marks the end of a long awaited era.
Skip, we all know you'd rather live in the middle of no where. but some of us actually like the city
i just like teasing ya! HEy im glad about that emissions going away! hear they are going to start a saftey inspection, when i lived in hawaii they had those, wow what a bugger.. u gotta revert all your lights back to stock and they check tires and suspension, it was a real pain.

have heard nothing of the sort, fairbanks has been without inspections for a few years now and no other kind have been talked about.
Speaking on safety and emissions: When I lived in Iceland, we had to have a safety inspection done to our vehicles. They would drive the vehicle up onto a table of sorts that would test the braking capability of the vehicle. It also allowed them to test the suspension, but I don't remember how that part worked (1995-1996). We also lived in SLC, Utah. Had to do diesel emissions inspections every year. That was a pain. Never had a problem with the 7.3L or the 6.0L even with tunes, but a lot of guys had to register there diesels in other counties to avoid it. I had forgotten to take the test pipe out of the 4" exhaust one time, so I got dinged on that. It was just a matter of putting the cat back in and retesting. Most of the cat's didn't purr... they roared (if you get the meaning).
If they try to implement safety and/or emissions in your area get involved to protest it with a passion. Make sure you also protest the politician that wants to promote it. What a waste of tax dollars.
Cool pics AK, I always enjoy them. Someday I'll make it up there.
OT a bit (errr a lot), my kid's car has a "check gas cap" message and it's throwing an evap system code. Thought I would be smart and swing by the bogus inspection station because they can pressure test the cap and give me a new one if it fails. No dice, they will only do that when it's due for inspection. (every 2 years) So as far as the EPA is concerned, I can drive it around with a bad cap for another year with no worries.
