so alittle background for those that dont know me or my '02 limited. shes is getting close to 115k miles, bought it with 102k on 10-30-2010 which was 15 days after my black 2000 excursion limited 4x4 v10 was totaled in a head on crash.

i've done a handful of mods to her, very happy with it as-is but there is allways room for improvement of course!

future mods include a detroit tru-trac, 20" wheels and tires, new headlights, LED taillights..just to name a few.

today i took her on a road trip. from anchorage,ak to seward,ak with a few stops. 307 miles round trip in 4x4 the whole way..i got 12.2mpg! i was rather happy!

back on the road...going through the mountain pass. look how tall the snow on the sides of the highway are..taller then the excursion!


the road was pretty good..pretty rough but overall good.



made it to seward. had to go check on my uncles boat and was showing a friend around who just moved to AK a year ago and had never been.

after dinner, darkness set in. i was very glad to have my 4 Hella 500s on the light bar in the front. 100w yellow bulbs cut right through the snow and pitch dark.

yes it did! my butts still numb but it was well worth it. this is the first time i've taken this Ex this far south. but i plan to make it up to Fairbanks this summer along with Valdez and all the stops along the way. this truck is a great highway driver!

cool. What light bar/lights are those? I like.

 

here is the bar, i picked mine up off craigslist for4 $100 used. then i painted it to match the tan on the lower portion of the truck.

here are the lights, cheap but work great. i then installed 100w yellow bulbs in them which helped alot.

I was just telling my girlfriend I'd like to visit alaska. There are so many reality shows there right now, and in every one everything looks so beautiful.

 

just go to the real alaska, fly into anchorage and get outa there as fast as possible, and soon you will see real alaska. everyone says alaska is only 30 miles from anchorage.
