regarding the LEDs, these are the ones I used originally: WLED-x5 (194 type) Wedge Base bulbs Specifications

They're much brighter than stock, I loved them but I just bought a set of these: High Power SMD WLED-xHP5 (194 type) 360 degree Wedge Base bulbs Specifications
and they're brighter than the ones I had before. I was worried they wouldn't fit as they're a tad taller, but they did. I might even be able to fit xHP9s but I'm not sure

also, I did the TRE flip and it was totally worth it, I have 5.5'' Deavers in front with a 4'' drop pitman arm and my steering links are straight across.

BASHAM if you plan to do all these lights and fancy winches, then i suggest a yellow top Gel Cell battery, mine cost something like $230 but i don't have to worry about acid leaks. And it is pretty powerful. In regards to the LED lights, do you have to but new sockets for this to work? I had some amber LEDs once and i was going to use them but they had a thin 2 prong square connector, not the round one i have now.

you mean the twist on? Like for the gauge cluster I think I remember my 78 being normal 194s with twist lock connectors.. the bulbs just pull out of the twistlocks and you put the new ones in.

and so far with batteries, I've had amazing luck with this deep cycle battery from Walmart. Bought it for my boat like 10 years ago, used it in my F150 and now it's in my Bronco. The next battery I buy will be gel, I think, if this thing ever fails?

The links are so sweet they double posted themselves... now i'm editing this post, by the way, you should take a close look at the Project Fiery Redhead link. They do most of the upgrades i want except they didn't touch the engine and used a bullbar i didn't like (and the perimeter lighting, i can have it either way).

Thats a lot of links haha very informative. My 78 has 194 bulbs in it, they are the twisty ones but i think the connections are flimsy on the printed circuit board...

I just finished putting an explorer overhead console in my Bronco. I mainly used this tutorial Explorer Overhead Console Install - FSB Forums

It was super nice for me because I have bench seats and no storage space, so now I can put my sunglasses somewhere else the then glove box! Plus, I get to see how hot its getting due to all this global warming !

Watch buying LEDs from Superbright. The quality SUCKS! You are better off adding LED's in arrays that don't try to use the OEM optical plastic in the gauge assembly. The LED retrofits don't disburse light in the same way or with near the efficiency of the OEM incandescent 194's.

Check out these guys for some really good options.

Bubba jones that is a great upgrade thread i have a stock center console with a small locking cashbox installed in it.. but i would love the OHC for the temp and compass if not just to show off to others.

Thanks BASHAM. I wish I could have a center console too (and cup holders!), but I have to wait until I can afford some bucket seats.. A small locking cashbox sounds really cool too.. I don't really have anywhere to put something like that though. I really like having the overhead console though, and I got all the parts at a salvage yard. It cost me $18 for the overhead console and $12 for the wiring harness with the sensor. So it was only $30 compared to 200-300 from what I was looking at on eBay!

I've seen write-ups on the SixLitre tuneup for the 5.0. Seems to be a common performance improving deal....

I totally disagree with you on this one. I just upgraded from normal bright LEDs to their super bright ones and there are still no hot spots, the color is beautiful, looks like stock but much brighter. Two orders from them, have had a single bulb go bad (maybe 20 bulbs total?), anyone who sees my cluster comments on the brightness and how good it looks. They have bulbs that give up to 360 degrees of even light output, or down to a 20 degree spot light, all the numbers are listed.

not affiliated with them at all, but when I find a product I like I stand by it
