Well now, what great news. Very happy for you and all who helped. And Tom,,thank you for allowing everyone to come dangerously close to running a smear campaign of sorts. Level heads and thoughtful approach to the issue won out this time.
Now we can focus on the issue, everyone keep running those motors hard and either blow em up or be amazed at the refined power and economy! I'm scheduled for a 2,500 mile run next week!
Well today I figured I would take a gander at the 6.7 forum and stumbled upon this thread. Guess I read it on the right day! Glad you got your $23K back randito even though it sounds like to me for the wrong reason. You shouldn't have been out $23K to start with but in the end you have what is right.
Having meet a few of the members in the thread (some several times) you couldn't ask for better guys to have on your side or to get advice from on the good, bad and ugly of the situation.
Randito great news man....had my doubts, like many of us sent ford the email and all i received in return was a semi canned response....not too promising.
Still disappointed about ricatics situation....he should have been made whole aaswell
I got my reply on the email sent to Ford Customer Service. I must say it was different than the other "form" replies others received. I was blunt in stating my issues with warranty refusal on major engine failures of two FTE members. I asked for an explanation. Of course I didn't get an explanation, but the reply basically said the dealerships had to make the determination as to whether a failure was to be covered under warranty or not.
I pointed out that some dealers evidently were not able to make the correct determination, and this was the problem. I would post the reply but don't know how to do that. Anyhow, it was sure a different reply than the others posted here.
The end result is that Randy was taken care of, be it late. However, Rick wasn't. Lets hope and pray something has happened to make Ford truly more professional about handling these major warranty issues when they happen. I hope we don't have any more of these horrible warranty issues. These darn things cost a fortune and we all deserve better handling when an issues arises!!!
There is a CUDL report. Started 11/22/2011 with roadside assistance but last notes in it are from 01/09/2012.
Was a mix up with VIN, looks like dealer possibly started job with wrong VIN. Must have grabbed info from Randys files (he has multiple trucks remember)instead of truck?
Back on Jan 12th I mentioned the VIN mixup so that story is a smokescreen. To be suggesting they just figured that out a day ago is a little wrong.
As many are thinking, Ford is covering (some of) this repair cost. My educated guess after being exposed to dealership workings is that the dealer will get from Ford what the claim would have been if they had processed things properly. Probably about 1/2 the $23000, cause that was a bit inflated.
For some reason Ford is not stepping up and taking any credit here when really i believe, they forced this result and deserve it.
Thanks Ford, for doing the right thing this time.......
So like I said earlier, lets get back to talking good stuff bout our Fords...
Congrats Randy! A strange way to "end" this, it's at least resolved as far as your wallet is concerned but I'm sure we all have our ??? about this.
As a Ford Truck fan who plans on a pre-owned 6.7 in the long term, I'm left wondering about what caused this in the first place and if I might have problems when I get one on the used market. I guess time will tell about what the real deal is.
