Ford/New Holland water filter #CF4900 (you can get these filters in various brands anywhere with/without SCA charge e.g. NAPA 4070/WIX 24070 for non-SCA or 4071 with SCA charge) 1=$11 with SCA or 1=$6 without SCA
I wait until I find them on sale, and then I buy 6 of them at a time (I do this with pretty much all my filters).
Yes and if I remember correctly the kit come ready for install unlike the pump by itself, you have some grinding to to make it work. So the kit is the way to go. Pricey but it's all there.
Agreed, I had already bought the IH pump for my rebuild and the little grinding you need to do is cake. Dan at Dieselsite was awesome, he set me up with the hose, the additional bolts you'll need and a short stem stat.
i just ordered the kit for diesel site myself.... i pondered piecing it together myself, but im sick and tired of wandering all over creation to find parts because no one stocks anything other than civic and corolla parts anymore.
so i shall have the kit on the 6th, and hopefully all installed soon there after.
Yeah it's " steep" but look at it on overall picture. Add in the pump, all the brass fittings thermostat, having to mickeymouse the hose buy the longer bolts and buy filters ship it all to you the savings are probably not as big as they seem.
Sometimes it makes sense to buy it all in one place. And the bottom hose has a lifetime warranty?
When I'm ready to do mine I'll go get a complete kit.

Not being a naysayer here on this mod because heavens knows I love to mod, I'm just not big on this one and prefer to keep is simple.

Well yeah if you're not looking to mod then you can save money. I mean ultimately you can buy a Filter base and a few filters rated for coolant filtering and install your own filter for less than what maybe $80.
I'm all for throwing mod money at my rigs , but spending more money than necessary when it can be done for a lot cheaper, while keeping the same quality of parts, just doesn't make sense to me.

Understandable. I think this mod would be more for someone that has no aftermarket filter and a stock pump that's going or gone out and starting at square one. I wasn't trying to say go put and blow 350/400 bucks needlessly. And if you already have a filter it doesn't make any sense. By the time you add in the factory pump, the aftermarket filter kit possibly needing lower hose , new bolts etc you're close price wise to doing the IH pump kit.
My only issue with the IH pump is if it decides to crap out when you're in ANYTown USA and the nearest auto store only has a factory replacement.
