Ok, here's a somewhat odd truck. The chassis appears to be a 48-50, but the grill looks like it's from a later parcel delivery:

Posted this on the '47 and earlier forum. Looking for more info on these types. Looks similar to the red/white one in Bob's neck of the woods. (Proctor-Keefe co.)

I think the Hudson trucks were factory made. They were based on the cars but I think the Hudson factory did the work.....I really don't know.

1946 Hudson Pick-Up Sales Brochure

Like Packard & Studebaker, the loss of Hudson was very sad for American industry.

This truck looks like the kid in school with buck teeth or braces that everyone picked on.

I spotted that 53 F3 three door extended cab north of Stark KS. When I came to this site to find some info, I found the exact same truck. It's currently used as a sign holder for the local cafe. It looks in decent shape.

Oh man, this one sitting holding a stinking sign for a greasy spoon? It deserves better! I'll be in Kansas in a week or so, and just might have to take a short detour down to Stark to check it out. Maybe leave my name and number if they decide something else could do just as good a job holding that sign. Stu

It is definitely the same truck on HWY 39 due north of Stark and it deserves better.

What?!!! To use such a rare truck in that manner is blasphemy!!!!! Stu, maybe you should buy and trade them another truck and save this three door orphan.

Gotta think others have tried to buy it. Assuming it was the cafe owner that bought it at auction, he/she paid over $4000 for it IIRC. Considering its rarity that's pretty reasonable, but then too it was an auction out in the middle of Kansas and there might have only been a couple serious bidders. I'll know more in a week or so. That may be true, but the owner may not know the rarity of the truck and was just buying it because it looked "different". Please report back what you find. I hope you're successful.

I did some on line detective work and found the place that has the truck. Murphy's Mercantile & Cafe. I emailed the owner, she confirmed the truck is holding up her sign and she said the truck is for sale. If anyone wants to step forward and give it a good home I'll forward the person's name and phone number.
