I see that the truck needed an extra axle... was it the added water or the 'flotation devices' that pushed it over weight limit?!

Nice! Were those Hudson trucks factory made or are they car conversions?
You know 35 to 40 years from now a bunch of guys will be on the FTE site in the 2000 to 2012 forum looking for odd ball pics and run across some of these photoshoped pics and post them up! I can just hear some of their conversations about the mad skills some guys had way back when!

Funny thought from me...It would probably be easier for most of us to build a project like that, rather than teach us how to use a computer/program that is capable of renderings like that!

Hey... How do you REALLY know my truck isn't ALL a photoshop illusion?
Looks like I have some competition in the photoshop department. Nice job.
Keep everyone guessing.

Wally,
That's a very red steering wheel - Did you photoshop in there or is it the real thing? That's a statement.

The previous owner (he rebuilt the truck) used a late '50's (red) Ford steering wheel that had an automatic transmission (the gear selection is on the column rather than using a BM shifter or something like it). The red really stands out, I love it. Even without power steering the truck drives great and the wheel gets everyone's attention.
I would have gone with a Ford driveline, a 351, a C6 trans, and a 9" Ford rear end but he used a small block Chevy engine, trans, and rear end. Still nice but the whole Chevy in a Ford thing feels like you're screwing with nature or something.
Hey Wally,
You have a beautiful truck - doesn't bother me that it has a chevy in it - It runs & looks good. We've been so busy working on getting our truck running & the exterior that I haven't really given the interior much thought. I'll just be happy when it fires up (which is soon). I ordered a 1940's Ford looking steering wheel I didn't even think about the color - Your's makes a statement - nice.

Ben, your wheel and dash look great (I really like the gauges), The guy who built my truck bought an interior kit (from an unknown company) that looks pretty nice, (just fabric covered thin wood with a foam padding between). He added power windows which I thought was pretty handy when you want to open or close the passengers side window while driving. The power windows really throw off people who look at the truck.
Wally, I would think the chev motor fits in that small pace pretty good. Even if it is a chev motor, I love the truck.
Thanks Masked Rider, the 307 sits nicely in there and it's fairly easy to find parts for it. Plus, it runs well to boot. I just found a mid-seventies air filter housing and bought a set of Mr. Gasket spark plug wire holders to clean up the wire-tied ignition wires. She just needs a little tlc under the hood to finish it up.
The radiator came out of a mid fifties mopar... got a little of all the detroit three representin' under that hood.
I know some of the guys here are pretty die-hard Ford guys and would NEVER consider using a Chev motor in a Ford. The older I get, i kind of fall with that belief - keeping Ford stuff Ford, Chev stuff Chev and Mopar stuff Mopar. BUT, it goes with out saying that back in the time, and still is in some cases today, Chev motors were and are put in all kinds of toys, simply because they will fit and parts for Chev small blocks were more plenty.
So with all that said, I still love the truck.
