I dunno... that tire only looks flat on top - not like a regular flat tire. It could be a very rare, aftermarket modification too. I'd leave it alone.

HUMMMMM.
A friend of mine ownes a '48 Benhoff sleeper truck. I think he said they used a back wall of a Mack truck and the quarter windows of a '47 Ford coupe to construct the sleeper area. They also split the roof and floor and inserted pies shaped pieces of metal to widen the cab. If you look at the truck straight on from the front it looks like the doors are half open:

Stu, did you happen to see the letter in the July/August issue of Vintage Truck about this truck? Paga 8 the letter writer said his friend owns this truck and is looking for more information. He listed his name and email so it should be alright to post it here:

Here's one that, while slightly newer than our general criteria, doesn't get much more odd than this...

That old laundry truck is definitely an oddball... but...

And the execution:

I got a hold of this guy the truck is in Florida he originally bought it in Wyoming or somewhere close to Montana any way there were suppose to be 4 of these built and there ended up only being 2 so if someone wanted to pay for it you could build it and have a sweet truck. he said the other one is in a museum

I wonder what they did for a gas tank on those? Used the Panel tank?

Doesn't that grille look an awful lot like it came from a 38 commercial?

Ross, I'd bet they used the stock tank. Back then they didn't worry about comfort and did everything as cheap as possible. You could email the guy I have listed and ask.
