I'm all about saving $, I was an extreme couponer after all.

In this case husband time : $ saved after buying supplies not a big enough gap.

Well in my case, ~$10 in materials and about a half an hour or so plus paint beats $70. Then again, my time probably isn't worth as much as his.

I don't see my husband whipping that up in 30 min, lol! Maybe I don't give him enough credit.

The Hensley showed up today. Looked better than the pictures except for a missing bearing cap on the bottom. Looks like it was knocked off in shipping as the grease was still there, clean and no rust. Install looks pretty straight forward if not long winded in the manual. Any tips on install, Tom? Going through it tomorrow after work to repack all bearings and repaint the stinger. I believe the seller was incorrect and I have the 1400# bars. Anyway to verify? They are huge.

Both sets of bars I have have the rate stamped into them somewhere, it's small but give them a close look.
Pull the bar bushing out of the lower hitch head and verify that the two sides are still connected to the little bridge piece, and then check the interiors for wear and replace if needed. Of course if you need to change spring bars for the correct rating then that bushing will also need changing too.
Do yourself a favor and buy at least two new zerk assemblies for the bar retainers, install new ones and keep the old ones in a bag along with an extra new one or two for on the road spares. In my spares box I also keep extra strut bar end pins, shear bolts, over center latch pins and a few extra safety clips/pins, I hate it when they disappear!
Pack as much grease into the bar bushings as possible them after the bars are in pump more in through the zerk fittings and then repump those zerks before every trip.
Also make sure that your safety chains, break away cable and 7 pin cord are going to be long enough with the extra length of the HA. I had to move the junction box a little on the Jayco to ensure the cord wouldn't be stretch too far on turns.
Feel free to hit me up with any other questions during the install, I'll be checking in here a few more times today but tomorrow will be a pack up and travel day with a 10 hour tow back into a Wintery mix and snow forecast.

We got our snow yesterday. I was wondering if you were going to get stuck in that stuff. Hope you made it before the salt was laid down?

The last 100 miles they had roads brined but they were still dry, so that was OK, but then about 10 miles from home it started a steady Wintery mix that got everything wet and covered in salty spray.
I will be giving the underside a good wash down this week for sure.

We had snow Friday night into Saturday. No accumulation but enough they wanted to put several tons of salt down on the roads. Thanks, can't wait for the answer. Checked my bars again and can't find anything but I'd had a few dad pops as I was cleaning the garage.

Speaking of salt... We got snow Friday into Sat morn. Of course I had a 200 mile trip to take. When I got there I found the nearest car wash. The Lincoln looked horrible!! Got the best wash with underbody rinse too.

It rolled to 50,000 miles today on the way home even. Lol

OK, I just looked both of my bar sets over...........and I can't find the markings on the 1400lb bars! . The 1000lb set has "1000" stamped into the bars on the flat tapered section along with a manufacturers stick (Draw-Tite by the way), I though that the bigger set also had the rating marked but looks like I was wrong. I did measure them though, the 1000lb set is 1 3/8" thick on the round section just below the bend and the 1400lb set is 1 1/2" thick. Hopefully this helps some.
