If I keep the kid from binge watching on netflix, I rarely have an issue with hitting my limit.

We don't own the hot spot but I have a "legacy" unlimited data cell plan, we all have smartphones and my kids use a lot of data when traveling watching Netflix and You-Tube.

What's legacy? Is that a company? Are you grandfathered in? I didn't know unlimited plans existed anymore.

Good to know about the satellite Internet etc.

Like you surmised, it's an old plan that's still honored.

I have unlimited data for my wife's smartphone because when I got our family plan yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaarrrrrrrsssssssss ago, it was a no brainer.

Rotten Verizon forced me out of grandfathered unlimited data if I wanted to upgrade my phone...

Can't you use your phone as a hotspot?

We do.

Hiked down to the lake last night to let the kids play. Nothing better than how excited they get when we are packing the camper.

Great pic.

Put that one in each of their photo albums.

Yes but still have to pay for data...

Was hoping there was a cheaper way.

A.T.& T. here. Have upgraded all the phones in our family plan many, many times over all these years, including the first iPhone released (Renee's) up to the 6s she just got a couple months ago, without a problem.

I have had an unlimited plan with Nextel since 2001 and when Sprint bought them it was grandfathered over. I can't tether but unlimited data, text and 1500 day phone minutes. It was a real hassle to upgrade to the Galaxy's last year but they let me do it and add a 4th phone. Of course the bill wasn't right and it required a few phone calls because the normal call support people have no idea about old plans. All is good now.

There are apps that make hot spot data look like app data, so I'm told.

That makes all of the costs, work, time, scheduling and fuel that camping consumes well worth it!

My daughter's have a way to go but they are in American Heritage Girls. Newer organization like girl scouts but faith based. Not as much camping through them but my girl's come with to all the boy scout family campouts.

I figured Hotspot was how to do it but upping my data $$ scares me. Hard to find good coverage too lots of places we go. Want v to look into satellite Internet, that exists, right?

Our son made Eagle last year, had his Board of review within a week of his 18th birthday! Good luck with your guys, making that top rank is quite the accomplishment these days!

My son made Eagle when he was 15, he is so happy he got it over with before he got deep into the high school rigor.
