We went there for spring break- great place for the kids and the KOA is decent there. Great deal on two day passes and camping package too. Did the safari in the morning and surfed w the kids in the afternoons.

We enjoy this place too and look forward to going back next year.
Took the camper to the dealer this morning and waited on repairs. 125 mile round trip and the Ex did great.
Since I was alone I experimented with the Ex, and the Pro-Pride. Yesterday I drove back from the lake loaded and pumped up the air bags, sort of made the camper tail heavy. Today I deflated the air bags and the truck handled better.
Also for an experiment I drove without tow/haul mode, it was an easier drive, the downshifts were not as harsh and the engine didn't wind out so much. I will start to reserve tow/haul more for the mountains.

I have found on many of my pickups for many years, they do better once i let the rear sag down a bit.
I had airbags once and i would try and level the truck and messed up the handling.
Once i let the rear drop down a few inches it was much more stable.
The heavy fuel trailers we pull behind the f350s and i usually tow with my f150 even though its more than fords under rated towing limit....they all handle better once I ease off the load bars and let the rear of the truck drop down more.
Many people like it all level.
I feel best with a little rear sag.....the rear tires feel more planted and i get better towing.
a week and a half we leave and I have two weeks of work to do to get ready yet and a week of "real" work that needs to get done for I leave first.
Little bit stressed out.
A day and yup, nothing done! I am in the middle of the timing belt job on wifes van that I hope to have done in time to take camping. I need a vacation!
We just got back from Buelton, CA, about 3 miles from Solvang. Had only one hiccup once we got to the RV park and went to check in. Truck would not start! I am thinking it had to do with low voltage on the batteries and my remote start. Before it starts, there is a delay with it in the on position for the glow plugs. Of course everything is on such as the AC, DVD player, air compressor inflating for airbags, plus the actual drain for the glow plugs, so my theory is it drained the battery slightly when it cranked. Took several tries to crank but it would not turn over with the key. They hooked up a jump starter and that didn't even start it. Registering 12.6 volts. I waited a bit and it fired afterwards. It happened one time after. Battery voltage has been consistent and alternator charging at 13.4-14.0 when running.
Truck had two codes:
Insufficient EGR Flow (P0401) and ICP Pressure to low (P2291). Any ideas what caused the starting issues? Truck has been bulletproofed with studs, BPD cooler, oil cooler, new HPOP, new heads, fittings, glow plugs, harness, etc. I think my mechanic put a Dorman EGR valve which might explain the P0401? All other parts were all OEM or BPD diesel. Anyway, input would be appreciated.
Other than that the truck towed great up the 101, 210 and the 15 in 86-90 degree weather and going up various mountain passes. Drove about 600 miles roundtrip. I think I'll get a mild tune now that I am bulletproofed. I was getting about 9 MPG with about a 6500-6700 trailer and 7 people. I love the BPD cooler and 7.3 fan clutch!
05 Excursion 6.0 PSD Bulletproofed towing my 30 foot TT.
Backed the EX and TT into our driveway at 6PM on Tuesday home from 10 days in Maine, 47 hours later, 5PM on Thursday we pulled back out and headed down Elk Neck State Park in Maryland until Sunday. This MD trip is for our Niece's wedding last evening, it was a beautiful event at an amazing venue, a winery on a bluff the overlooks the Upper Chesapeake Bay where the Elk, Bohemia, Northeast, Sassafras and Susquehanna Rivers all meet the Bay and the weather was perfect! It was also my awesome Bride's birthday, can't imagine a better day!

I have the same setup as you with Bulletproofed 6.0 and ran into a similar issue on trip to Disney pulling our camper. Threw the same codes. The EGR is common for me since I deleted it. The ICP turned out to be a bad o ring on one of the injectors for me. If you have an edge insight or another way to monitor your ICP you might be able to see what is going on and eliminate that as the potential problem.
On another note explain to me your 7.3 fan clutch setup as I need to replace mine.

I grew up about 2 miles from there. Nice area for sure. It's been 20 years since I have been there... If I recall correctly I don't think I would enjoy driving the ex and a camper down some of those curvy narrow back roads.

Yeah, towing down Main Street through Northeast was tight and MD 272 (Elk Neck Road) is like a roller coaster getting into the park. We are in one of the biggest sites they have here and we just fit.
Relaxing in Ogden, Utah until trailer pickup at 2:30. Headed to Yellowstone today. So far hand calculating mileage from San Antonio, TX to Ogden, Utah puts me at 12.6mpg with 4 passengers and 2 weeks worth of gear and supplies.
I averaged 12.11MPG round trip from Co. to SATX. 4 people and 3weeks of gear, +1 person on the way back!! Enjoy your trip.
