Russ, you just need a few popsicle sticks, bailing wire, and some chewing gum and you'll have what you need to put a trailer back together. I was amazed at how flimsy the construction is under the skin when I tore into one a while back.

Ain't that the truth !! I was disgusted with how cheezily built our pop up camper was. I was more disgusted to see our new travel trailer was equally as cheezily built.

Make sure you head over to the RV trailer and camper forum when you do. Lots of great help over there like you find here. In fact, Carlene (Admin here at FTE) and her husband are doing a ground-up build right now and it's coming along fantastic. You should check out the pictures in her build thread.

Does anybody have a list of the % grades in the Eastern 1/2 of the US? US-25 out of SC into NC surprised me on how steep it was, the Ex pulled the camper up with no problem but I ran her at 50 MPH, didn't want it to get too warm. She was at ECT 228 and EOT 235, cooling fan was running wide open. It is a long grade, my guess is 7-8% for about 4 miles.

I don't have a list of grades, but you can type in a start/end point, and see the grade of the route here: Flattest Route.

Many years ago I worked a short stint at the Gulfstream factory as an electrician on their Ameri-Lite assembly line. I was amazed at how flimsy rv's actually are. It's basically thin plywood over some 1 by's.

Picked up this generator off CL last night, seems to be lightly used. Runs super quiet while charging the trailer batteries and is easy to carry along. We're planning some dry camping this fall for a couple weeks.

While checking my brakes and greasing the bearings, I found a few key parts floating around. The retainer on the front shoe went missing and the adjuster fell out and went for a spin. I thought I heard a slight odd noise at the campground last time out, obviously I found the issue. Glad to do this at home instead of the side of the road!!

I didn't get a picture of the drum before I dropped it off for resurfacing. It had a minor groove in it.

Man, look at that ole white faced dawg. We almost lost him to pneumonia last weekend. His recovery has been nothing short of miraculous. Not sure what I'll do when that day comes....... my number one son. He loves camping !

Nice camping spot CM.

I have a gray faced dog myself, she's quite the companion!

Replaced the brake assembly tonight and put it all back together. Seems like a lot of rust on those brakes for a 4 yr old trailer that's been stored indoors all it's life. I have to wonder how long the frame sat in a muddy field before the trailer was built. The hubs were also quite loose, I was able to turn the nut almost half a turn by hand. Darn chinese crap..... oh wait, made in USA.

Drum came out good after machining. My local NAPA store told me they have nobody who knows how to turn drums. Sign of the times I guess.

A closer look at the problem brake.
