That was an odd brake hardware failure Eric, and I like that 4 post lift and it's accessories.
Pretty cool Boy Scout beach camping spot there Mrs Mouse.
IMASAP, glad to hear that the white faced Goldie bounce back so well, it sucks that these great companions age so much faster than we do. Our big dumb Goldie (125lbs of lovable shaggy goofiness and hot breath) loves sitting by the campfire too.
I know that it was asked over in the Towing Forum, but is anyone here planning on going to the Worlds Largest RV Show in Hershey PA this week? It looks like we will be there on Thursday to look at some busses and other bright shiny things.
At the tail end of our weekend camping trip I pulled out the original mattress and replaced it with a new 10" thick memory foam mattress I ordered on Amazon. That should give it plenty of time to decompress before our trip to Vermont in 2 weeks. Hopefully this is a huge improvement in comfort. Crappy pic , I know. Certainly feels much more substantial.....
Is that an "RV Queen" mattress? If so keep us posted on how it feels on the next trip, we are looking to replace our factory one that has pretty much given up any comfort it once had.
We ended up just using the queen pillow top from our guest bed and put it in the camper for our bed when we put everything in storage. I love it over the timy little thing that was in there before.
We have a regular queen mattress. My back doesn't tolerate a crappy mattress at all any more. It does hang over a bit, but better than me hanging over the end. Just don't sit on the end, you'll feel silly!

I have quite a few TempurPedic products in my house due to chronic nerve probs. So when we bought our TT back in '06, it was a no-brainer we'd have to replace the crappy mattress that came with the trailer.
I don't think even a homeless person would like sleeping on those things.
I bought a memory foam topper from Overstock.com and it works great.
Thanks for the kind words and well wishes on my ole dawg. He has been on the mend this week and hopefully that continues. That dog has spent every day with me since he was given to us about 12 yrs. ago. Hard to think about losing him.
When we bought our camper, the mattress seemed OK. As time went on it felt more like a torture rack. Last fall I got a deal on a Beauty Rest memory foam mattress topper.... Black Friday deal. That made an improvement, but after a few months we seemed to be back to the torture rack.
The mattress is a short, or 'camper' queen. Here is a link to the one I ordered.
4800 reviews and 4.5 stars, so I'm at least optimistic. I will report back on it. There look to be at least a few vendors selling the same mattress, and the prices differ greatly. They look to be sold out again..... there were only a couple left when I ordered. I paid 169.99...... so if I don't end up liking it, I guess at least I'm not out 600. Our trip to Vermont is 4 nights, and I think we'll be doing another few nights before the camper gets put away for the winter. Hopefully that gives me a feel for it.
Whew, just finished reading all 49 pages! It's not like it was a chore or anything due to the great stories and pix. We've been poor since the beginning of 2009, and are just starting to come out of the "cloud". So the trailer had pretty much been parked, except for a few trips to Banning, our quick getaway spot. We like the KOA, and it's close to a few things. We are booked to go out Oct2 to try out the Excursion, but I don't foresee any problems. I still have to install the RAS and e2, and will have to tow the trailer home from storage without the e2. I figure the RAS will help and it's only 15 miles or so. Our trailer is perfect for us except for the slideout queen bed. Getting a little old to crawl over, so since it's just us two, I'll sleep on the couch right below the bed, as I WILL be getting up once or twice! I'll do pics when it's all hooked up ready to go.
On our camping trip last week I noticed the hole for the hitch pin on my two year old Curt hitch was starting to get a little egged on the bottom. I'm pretty religious about not letting the bent end of the hitch pin get near the hole, but apparently it's time for some insurance.
I ordered a stainless steel 5/8 clamping collar from Amazon.
Installed it on the hitch pin and tightened the bolt. This should keep the bent end of the pin from egging the hole anymore.
Just an added note.... I absolutely love my Bolt brand locking hitch pin. I have a couple of their hitch pins and a couple of their padlocks, keyed to my Excursion. One padlock on my trailer coupler, one for a cable to lock the generator, bicycles, etc. I never have to look for extra keys.

Unless you have a straight bar pin, it will always happen (eventually) with the bent bar pins without a clamp.

I have a straight bar on the Ex, so no clamp there, but for my truck I have the same pin lock as you do, and since they don't come in the straight pin style, I am continually checking the worm clamp to make sure it hasn't moved.
I like that clamp you found. Much better than a worm clamp. I'm gonna have to get one for my rig. Rep!
