Just below the Excursion section here, there is an area devoted to bumper pull and slide in campers. One of our members did exactly that with his 2 axle camper. He posted pictures before and after the 'flip'. Take a look in the 'show your bumper pull camper' thread.

TT axles have a certain amount of camber built into them and actually flipping one over would have you wearing out tires quickly along with some strange handling.
Look to see what brand axles you have then search out the "flip kit" for those axles, it's a fairly easy project to do and will get you the extra ride height you are looking for.

Also, if you do add a receiver hitch to the rear of your TT be sure to mount it off of the FRAME of the trailer and NOT the rear bumper. Most modern TT rear bumpers are not rated to carry any weight at all and are prone to failure with much more than the weight of a spare tire mounted to them.

This was (for me) one of the reasons we upgraded to the Surveyor, with an Excursion it is difficult to haul bikes. The Surveyor came with a factory rack on the back that can also be used for blue tanks and generators. I read too many stories of rear bumpers twisting and frames cracking from rear racks on travel trailers that prevented me from adding one to the Puma.

Here is a question... If I have bikes on the back can I put the blue tank on top of my battery boxes behind the propane tanks safely? I have tried it, it does fit but will it hurt the batteries?

This is the hitch I was looking at for the TT. Just don't see a way to install without cutting some of the corrugated underbelly out.

So I'm looking to hang 3 bikes on the front too. How far can the bike rack stick out before it's illegal ? For some reason I'm thinking no more than 3 feet by federal law ??
My first thought was that's a lot of Dinero up front there. Would insurance cover if you were in a fender bender? I'm guessing not.

Covered under home owner as property. Could argue additional equipment on camper policy. Depends on how good your agent is at reading your policy of what and how.

That's the same one I looked at originally, but my TT frame is just too wide for it to work, but I'm loosely basing my fabricated hitch on that design. Don't worry too much about that plastic underbelly sheeting, it's very easy to patch together and Home Depot carries that same coroplast, if they don't have it in black try a local sign shop. A little RTV and/or sheet metal screws will make any patched in spots weather tight. . I'm active on both ecomodder.com and geometroforum.com where that stuff is very popular for all sorts of aero mods.

If I ever end up giving someone a boost enroute to do some dry camping, I will let you know the answer to that.

Hitch is welded to bottom of bumper and thick strap up to frame. Also bolted to a bracket that would be used for manual jacks. Than u bolted to the middle of the bumper. The toolbox is unbolted to the bumper. Have had this setup for 2 yrs now, and pull a ATV trailer behind it. I've also put a basket back there to haul fire wood before because my generator goes on the tongue under the propane tanks.

The flip is easy as hell on a camper. I did it to my old one. Just buy some new spring perches to weld to the axle tube. Use a tape and square to make the new perches parallel with the old ones and weld them on. Bolt the axles back on. And done. The hight difference will be the thickness of the leaf pack and the axle tube.

Here's a b4 and after pic. Not the best pics but you can see the diff at the tire to fender clearance.

Kind of- I left the X in the driveway. We pulled the 32 footer to the Caverns State Park 5 1/2 hours away. Temps are 93-97 outside and the truck seemed better suited. However, caverns themselves were in the 60's and the blue hole swimming spring was mid to high 60's(takes your breath away after you do your best Ron Burgundy cannonball impression". Great trip so far.

Over the 4th I headed north to our buddies place. I took my F-150 because I needed to haul the 4 wheeler and trailer. I do have to say though the F-150 tows better then the Ex. between 411HP, 6 speed transmission w/ tow/haul and fantastic brakes it makes things effortless.

Thought i'd share a few videos and photos.

w/the trailer in tow headed up the glenn highway.

This was on the way home. This Prius to my right had been cutting people off and just driving like a jerk. So when I found the opportunity to line up w/her at the red light on a road that went from 2 lanes to 1 I had to do it. Towing the trailer w/ the bed loaded with 4 wheeler and generator..ect I think i made my point.

Here's a couple of the Curt sway bar that broke on the way home from our last trip. I believe it was due to bad welds. FYI I did not drive around town with it connected.
