h ok i'll plumb it into intake tube between the filter and turbo....is it normally mounted to the valve cover???? and don't have a turbo kit, i'm building my own setup as the original type setup will not fit my cab/engine configuration....
The CDR performs the same function as a PCV valve on a gasser. It's so big because without a throttle valve, a diesel doesn't make as much vacuum as a gas engine.
The CDR's inlet (the port on the curved edge) needs tp be plumbed to the valley cover, or valve cover, or anywhere else that's connected to crankcase vapor. The outlet (on the flat side) needs to be connected to the intake anywhere upstream of the turbo.
The NA engines came with it mounted at the rear of the manifold. The turbo engines came with it on the valve cover.
cool thats kinda what i thought... will look for it when i'm at the yard today...may have scored a blown up 7.3 with banks sidwinder setup... local fte guyfrom rainer has one blowed up nice truck and one turbod donor truck.. needs motor swapped...i can keep motor and turbosetup...thought i'd put the heads and turbo setup on my 6.9...still negotiating though so i'll see what happens...
sorry to be so short - right in the middle of installing new injector pump - got the ATS installed - looking for some insight into how you ran your injector return lines - did you take a foto - ?
I'll go thru all 16 pages here a bit later after I loose the rest of the light
I routed the number seven line up to the filter head and the number one back to the block leading back to the tank, instead of seven going to the block-to-tank and one going to the filter head- worked fine. I think wreckinball went seven to the block but ran it in front of the intake neck.
Now - 2 new questions - on the lifting hook now removed ( mounted near no.7 piston ) there was a stud bolt - insight as to where now to place this to mount the wire loom keeper
second question - the glow plug controller gets moved top of valve cover between 3 and 5 injector - when mounted at rear of motuer it was grounded to a stud bolt back of intake manifold no 8 piston - should the stud bolt from lifting hook near no 7 be moved and used to ground glow plug controller - somewhere between no 3 and 5 ?
