The trucks having issues shifting once warmed up. When cool it runs and shifts perfectly fine, once warmed up it won't shift easily out of first gear. I can horse it into 2nd by bringing the rpm's up to 3000 letting off the accelerator then applying the accelerator again and it shifts into 2nd at about 2200 rpms. The remaining shifts go smoothly. To date I've replaced input and output shaft sensors, vehicle speed sensor on rear dif, Solenoid pack, tested the harness, rebuilt the transmission and installed a shift kit and upgrade kit to the accumulator and valve bodies, Replaced the PCM today and not 1 thing I have done has made the slightest difference. It's all relevant to temperatures but nothing is getting hot, tranny is averaging 135*

Have you posted over in the 99-2003 7.3 section? Mark K, a former Ford trans tech specialist frequents there and can usually offer assistance.

No I haven't been searching the internet and speaking to every mechanic I can for the last month and doing everything they have suggested, paid 2 ford dealers for diagnostics and theres just no codes or signs of any issue of any sort. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy and install new valve bodies next, It's possible theres a hairline crack thats letting the thinner warm fluid leak through.

I will post there as well though and see if anyone answers, thanks for mentioning it.

The problem could be in the accumulator body. Not torqued correctly. The 1-2 shift valve could be hanging up.

Another problem source. Intermediate clutch accumulator regulator valve could be damaged.

The feed bolt could be loose, or the sealant missing.
Damaged seal or piston for the intermediate clutch.

These are the common problems for the 1-2 shift.

thanks for the feedback speeder.

The accumulator was rebuilt for sure, I was in the shop when he did it, One of the first things we did was a new transgo shift performance Kit and this guys meticulous on everything being clean and inspected, He has these huge dishwasher type cleaning apparatuses he put every piece through and even the case goes in it. I saw him torque everything. the 3rd and overdrive clutches had signs of wear but no issues obvious with first or 2nd. But I agree and I'm going to order a complete valve body assembly tomorrow I had wanted him to replace it but he said he never saw 1 go bad in all the years he;s been in business so I listened and let him rebuild it. He still doesn't think it's the issue but has no other suggestions at this time, he's gonna drive my truck home tonite and to work tomorrow to see if it gives him any ideas.

The valve body really doesn't go bad.It can be damaged by over torquing or dropping it on the floor. What can happen is the bores can get nicked causing the spools (valves) to hang up. This can happen with the accumulator body too.

I would recheck the accumulator body specially the 1-2 shift valve. If it checks out good run it. See what happens. Another option is to dig a little deeper and check the feed bolts while the accumulator body is out. It's only a few more bolts to remove.

If you replace the body and the problem still persist. The tranny will have to come out. The problems are internal.

when it does make the shift, does it SLAM into gear or does it make the shift like any other shift?

temperature correlation would lead me to something inside the trans.

I didn't snowmobile today because my uncle came up to snowboard with me and I didn't exactly have a tail light on my sled until about 5pm

What do ya think do I give up some fuel mileage for cool factor?
I am looking for an older focus to. I used to have an 01 manual transmission and would average 34 mpg at 85 mph. I used to drive 90 miles one way to work on 95. We are moving this summer and I will be travelling a lot more to get to work and the explorer or f150 aren't going to cut it. I will just duck when someone I know see's me driving it!
