meh, i drink less now than i used to, i just used to have fun doing it, not so much nowadays.
the moral of the story is never assume life is going to stay as good as it is for you at any given time. i burned through a lot of decent jobs from age 18 on before i had to have any real responsibility. it was ok then because you could walk into any of the factories around here and get a new job on the spot. doesn't work like that now.
never take anything for granted.
i had 32 years in the union with only 2 different companys. first one went out of business after the owner retired and his son could not run it 16 years ago, and the second company went out of business last year due to the economy.
all i can find is here and there work, a few days a week. then in December i injured my left knee, and over the past few month, the ACL is now destroyed from not getting it taken care of, due to lack of health insurance.
then you take in the fact that no one wants to hire a 55 year old truck driver with a spotless driving abstract because they can hire a 21 year old for $10 per hour.
and i can't even collect the pension i paid into for the past 32 years, because the union pissed away all the money and the pension fund is within 2 months of being bankrupt.
so basically i am screwed.
my only thing to look forward to is permanent disability and state charity care.
