Frank, I just went through this thread again from start to present and boy, it and your truck are very well done. My hat is off to your craftsmanship and attention to detail. Job well done.

Looking good! How bad was it installing the coil springs? I'm still running the steel rods but am about to install the engine and then the springs.

Thanks Jim, I really appreciate that. This site has helped me out tremendously for my build. A big thing I've learned from you guys (and my dad lol) is to build it "the right way" instead of half-@$$. I've learned that impatience will get stuff cobbled up. I've learned from my mistakes and am still learning lol I'm glad I have you guys to talk to about my "ole 51". It's great we can come to this site and help each other like we do. I'm just trying to build it "Right" like so many of you guys have done. It won't be perfect by any means but it will be perfect to me

I was really surprised how easy it was to install the coil springs. With the weight of just the engine, trans, and radiator full of coolant in the frame I was able to use a floor jack to jack up the lower control arm compressing the spring enough to bolt the spindle up. It was honestly one of the easiest things I've put together on the truck, plus a bonus was it saved me about $250+ doing it myself. A local shop wanted $180 to do the job plus they would have charged me $50 to tow it to their shop and $50 back to my house!

Hey guys haven't been on here in a long time. Lots of stuff has happened in my life including my wife having health problems along with other things. Well my wife is better now and I thank God for that. Well now comes the hard part (project wise). I'm thinking of selling my 51. I had to sell the new wheels and tires I had bought for it before this past Christmas so I don't have those anymore. I only have 3 spare wheels and tires on it right now and a jack stand holding up the corner with no wheel. What do you guys think it's worth? I have over 11,000 invested in this project. I could make a list of all the parts I have.

Hey Frank,
Hmmm... Why don't you just let it sit for a while. It's not going anywhere.
Sometimes things come back around after some time - might be good to have an old project
to keep you out of trouble in the future. Plus your truck will be worth more all finished and driving.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's health. Give her a big hug for us!
