I know it well, my folks used to have an '88. Are you using the fuel tank out of it as well? Is that even possible? Also, are you keeping it EFI or swapping out the intake for a carb?
I figured it would be. The intake/carb setup should free it up a little. The old lincoln's always had 460's, but then I guess they figured they could just stick a 302 in there if they used an aluminum hood instead of steel, but my folks' was pretty gutless, plus the late 80's were super tuned down for emissions. I bet if you get all that junk off and change out the intake she'll really run.
I know about things getting in the way all too well, I have the same goal, but not for a total tear down, the cab is staying on for now, I just need to swap the drivetrain out and fix a few things here and there before next summer to get it ready to drive around.
