Pics of My 1951 F1

Had the F1 for about 2 weeks now and decided to take some pics since it is nice today. Truck is all stock except for the wheels. Just picked up some factory wheels to repaint and add tires and caps to at a later date. After driving her today, I need a rebuilt steering gearbox. Anyone know where I can pick one up? I've got new glass coming and will convert her to 12v in the next few days. Here are the pics:

Pics of the interior and motor. Can someone tell me what kind of heater this is? I need to get a 12v motor for it.

Nice ride. The rear bumber is not stock, if you care. Rebuilt steering boxes you can get from Sacramento Vintage Ford. I have one in good shape as well as a stock column with no "three on the tree" Good luck with the F1

I plan to replace the bumper one day. Just need to work on the more important things first. I'll PM you about the gearbox.

My 52's steering felt real sloppy when I 1st got it. Found that the steering box was bone dry. Filled it up with some 90 wt gear oil and its been much better since.

Nice looking truck, where are you located?
Good luck with it.

Thanks for the advice. I can try that, but it feels worn out with too much play. I had a 1958 Chevy Apache that had the issue. Replacing it fixed her. Afraid of the death wobble.

Zoot, did you mate an automatic to your flattie? If so, did you use a C4 and a 9 inch rear? Looking to change my rear end to a 9 inch, but was wondering what ratio to use for my 3 speed. 3.73, 3.54 or 3.31? The flattie has more than enough power to get these trucks to highway speed.

Nice truck. I'd put a breather on it, check the brakes, and drive it. There's an adjustment on the steering box.

I agree with what's been said already on the steering box. I would check/refill the fluid and adjust it. Might be enough to make a difference. Rebuilt steering boxes are expensive. Parts are available to do it yourself, but also not cheap.

The heater is an aftermarket unit for the period. You'll need to take it apart and search for a 12v motor that will fit the application.

Thanks doc. Had the air cleaner off to do some maintenance. I'll start with the adjustment and oil first before persuing a gearbox.

You sure have a real sweet truck there.Looks pretty clean. I think you said something about the steering box. One option is a toyoto 4x4 steering will work with some mod's just a option.Love the flat head hope you keep it that way. I would drive and enjoy that little ride.. Where are you in Texas?
Thanks for the Pic's we always love the Photo's. George
