A few updates guys, I finally finished my exhaust, installed some plugs and electric fan thermostat/temp sensor on intake, reworked the rear brake line, installed the spacer and carb and return springs, installed the trans dipstick tube, installed the fuel pump, and installed a trans cooler. Oh yeah lol I also installed driveshaft and greased all the fittings.
Hey Frank,
You are building a work of art! I notice your exhaust tapers down to
(1.5)? inch tips or maybe it just looks that way. Is there a reason to taper it like that? Glass packs in the middle there? I had to redo our exhaust & tone it down a notch - just too loud for close neighbors.
Looks like you are ready to mount some sheet metal. Looking fantastic over there in Tennessee!
Thanks guys. Yeah the stainless exhaust tips 1.5 and the rest of the exhaust is 2-1/4. They were from a "home workout stripper pole" I had got out of the trash a while back that was brand new still in pack. I figured since they were stainless steel I'd put it to good use lol. Yeah those are glasspacks, and to be honest they are pretty loud out the side like that but I'll just leave them be for now.
That looks good....that is a really nice job on the electric fan installation!
We had a heat wave a couple of weeks ago...I had my truck out and about in the 100 degree plus heat...no problems. It stays right at 185....which is exactly what the thermostat setting is. It starts to creep up at long stop lights, but the fan kicks on and it cools right back to 185! Unfortunately for us in Morgan Hill, I don't think the city knows that there are engineers out there with traffic management degrees. We live in a small town that has been growing....the city solution for traffic is to put in more signal lights!!
Have got a little more done to it. Working on some body work here and there. Installed a mustang tank and took out the fuel cell. I made a crossmember to strengthen the frame and placed it near the aftermarket transmission x-member I installed earlier in the build. Installed coil springs, sway bar, strut rods and rear shocks. I tried to repair my original running boards to look "stock" but due to the rust through issues in the ribs I had to either get new running boards "get creative". So I got some steel checkered plate and welded them into place. I wire brushed the old paint off then I used raptor liner on them, MAN what a difference it made.
Thanks Bud! The diamond plate was 1/8 thick because thats all the local steel place had in stock. I couldn't believe how heavy it made the running boards LOL Hopefully they will last me a long time.
Hey Frank,
I like the creativity! Your running boards look great. Those are pricey if you purchase them. I never would have thought to paint the gas tank - it looks really good too!
