Almost spring (march) B.S. thread
Hey Troy, or Jay, is that recall just on the PSD or on all Super Duty?
Ok, second story. Let me first say I met many rental mh people on our five trips to Yellowstone, and have helped many with getting set up and questions they had, I like to help. What I did not like was the inconsiderate and ignorant ones who only cared about themselves and thought the rental mh was the same size as there family mini van.
As I said before, I did not see this, but saw the aftermath about one hour later.
July 2007 We pulled into Canyon campground in Yellowstone about 2pm and set up, about 15 min. We had the same Doge 2500 V10 and had went to a 9.5' pickup camper. We left to go look for bears, and came back about 5pm. I went to walk over to the bathroom, and saw a guy (campground host) that I had talked to many times on previous trips. He was pushing a big garbage bin full of some foul smelling stuff. I followed him around the corner and all I saw was caution tap and large absorbant pads and whit pieces.
He saw me and said you will not believe this. There was a Travel America MH in here and they were 12 days into their vacation with a family of six and had never emptied their holding tanks. Their campground neighbor has smelled the camper two days before and asked if they had dumped thier tanks recently, and the guy said yeah, what do you think do I look stupid.
Well, he was. He only had dumped the gray tank and never the black tank. They had left that day on one of the bus tours at 7am, and before they left the idiot thought that if he jammed open the valve on the toilet that it would relieve the smell in the camper. Huh!
What he did not know was that the tank level was probably at the neck of the toilet. The water flush on the toilet was running a little, but heck, he had jsut dumped the tank that morning. 'When they came back at 4pm, he opened the door and stepped on the step, guy was like 400# and a 6" wall of sewage rolled twoards him out the door and all over the ground.
Hazardous Waste according to the Park Service, they ticketed him like $2000, and towed the rental mh away. He got on the phone to Travel America and started screaming that he was going to call his lawyer and sue for a faulty mh.
Remember the neighbor who tried to help. He yells over and says hey look, my MH has two valves one for wash water and one for crap.
That's cool you also had an 85 Dave, seems like foxes now are either beat to pieces or made into drag cars.
Dave sorry I never got back to you earlier I got called out to clean up a car accident and just got back now. Congrats on the new job!! Otherwise I am doing good!
Thomas that is a sweet car! My friend had a '86 GT stock and that was quick so I bet yours really scoots!
Lee I believe it is on all superduty's. Call your local Ford dealer or go to there website and run your vin for any open recalls. Another good story and all I could think while reading it was the movie RV!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Ok guys, I want your honest opinion.
When you tow, do you use overdrive?
I usually do, unless truck wants to shift more than once every 5-10 miles. Around here seems to usually never shift without the boat behind the 5er.
With Troy needing a tranny, and I may have the same one, I became a little concerned. I do drive slow enough to drive Miss Daisy though.
Lee I usually run it in drive till I get it up to speed and then shift to od. I usually leave it in od unless it hunts for gears. If I see a sizeable hill coming up I will drop it into D untill it levels out. If I am lugging at all I will drop it into D. I have a tranny temp gauge and I have never seen it get over 185 and my fluid does not smell burnt.
