Back then, there were only 2 places and they weren't even close to one another. Swapped the plug and sure enough- Sound!
More recently, after going without sound for months, I plugged in this back-up computer so I could take the main one to the shop. No sound on it either! I picked up a new set of speakers for $10 when I dropped the computer off, hooked them up and mumbled to myself the rest of the day.....Dang! Months with no sound for a $10 set of speakers, I can't believe I...........

Hating its prissy attitude, don't want to invest hundreds into the engine, don't want to spend thousands repairing the body, don't have the money for gas.

My aunt is moving to Barbados, and doesn't want to sell her Jeep, so she told me to fly down and hang out with her till she moves, then drive her jeep back to omaha, and make it mine.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Thing is, that oil problem isn't just some mysterious problem without a cause. Before you sell it, you might try parking it for a while as you drive that Wrangler, then as you can, start looking things over and try to track down the source of the leak. It can't be leaking into the cylinders and getting burned off, because it'd smoke out the tailpipe if it was.

My Cherokee does something similar. The problem is the valve cover seal; it leaks oil out the back, and the oil gets burnt off as it drips onto the exhaust. I see only tiny puddles now and then if I'm parked somewhere, and only if it's running. I didn't check the oil one time and it ran itself two quarts low, with the oil pressure gauge going all over the place, even dropping to zero.

It's a problem that covers its tracks, but it's easily fixable.

I know your truck gives you trouble, but I think it's worth giving another chance. I could just up and sell my truck because it's not running right, the transmission leaks, the front end needs work, and the floorboard is rusted out on half of the driver side....but then I'd be losing a truck that has been with me for eight years. One that's helped me move to my house, one that has gotten me everywhere I've needed to go.

*steps down from soapbox*

I wonder if I should invest in a 4bbl intake and carb for my truck after the first of the year.

I won't be able to afford insurance on both, and April I will have to renew my tags for the F250. The oil problem is a 15 dollar/week problem right now. Drive for 2 miles, park, oil puddle the size of my torso appears within 15 minutes. I can't afford to pay for 5 quarts of oil/month. then gas, then insurance, and once a year new tags for the plates. I have until april to get the problem fixed, but if it just keeps getting worse, I will bite the bullet and but the F250 up for auction.

I don't have near the history with that beat up POS of mine. But I bought it as a fill-in while my Toyota was down for $1000. Running , tagged and inspected with a good set of tires. It wasn't sideswiped like it is in the avatar, the body was in pretty decent shape. I'm in Texas, so rust is something we get on our tools when we leave them out in the rain. I do have some in the bottoms of the fenders at the cab though. Had to put some gaskets on it and threw on a new timing chain while I was at it. Drove it less than a year. Something about driving that old truck though- it was just fun. Without AC in the summer. No radio. But I fell in love with her anyway. And she never let me down. Sure, she quit moving twice once a starter, the other time a blow-out... ( I shoulda seen that one coming).
She's been sitting 5 years now, and I've just been gathering parts so far. $794 in misc truck parts and over $2750 in motor parts. I expect at least $1000 more in machine work. I'll probably get a new bed and passengers side door. I still need at least a couple of hundred in misc. parts like weatherstripping and trans parts.I'll probably drop about $500 in the rear end. I'm looking a a couple hundred more minimum in paint and body materials with me doing all the work.
When I'm done, I'll have a truck that's work about half of what I have in it, (if that). It'll be one nice ride though, and worth a lot to me, even though I know I'll face the same problems of insurance and gas as Josh, and probably won't keep it long.
Then it's on to another 80-86 resto. This time with a straight six. If I live long enough to finish it, I'll never sell it as long as I do.
After that or at the same time, either a Cougar or Mustang- (leaning towards Cougar) with a 514 stroker built to take some juice, or a 347 stroker in a Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up in the 80- 86 range.
I wonder if I should invest in a 4bbl intake and carb for my truck after the first of the year.
I would.

If my insurance wasn't 225/month, this wouldn't be a problem.

I have no clue why it is 225/month for I am the safest driver in my family.

I did not follow the oil problem too much Josh, but have you checked the valve cover gaskets? I had not as big of a leak, but it still dropped it wherever I parked. It turned out to be the valve ciover gaskets had deteriorated near the back of the passenger head and it was running down the back of the engine.

As for the Jeep - (speaking from experience) if you want to save money, get yourself a 90s Honda or Toyota. My Wrangler started out as a cheap purchase, and every week I was doing something new to it. by the time I traded it for a Grand, I had over $9k invested into it, with a laundry list of stuff to still be done. No matter how much you try to reserve yourself, you spend too much money on them. Since everything is relatively cheap for them, it is easy to tell yourself you are only going to get this or that, and it adds up REAL quick. You literally might come out ahead by keeping your truck and saving to do the engine.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Have you shopped around for a better plan? A lot of them have discounts for all sorts of things.

I refuse to buy a Honda haha
There is no leak from the Valve covers, it's coming from the rear seal, and god knows where else...

He's 19yo, he'll pay a lot until his mid-20s even if he's the safest driver in the world.
