Part VI
TLBs sucking has nothing to do with the operator.
They compromise cutting edge visibility on the front and they obviously have no turntable in the rear. They had to sacrafice things in order to get 2 attachments on one machine.
Yes they are handy, but they will never hold a candle to a dozer when it comes to grading. Not now not ever.
They will never hold a candle to an excavator when it comes to digging a trench and loading a truck with the material coming out of it. Especially if it is a narrow alley-way and the truck can only get in from behind the machine.
And like I said they compromise cutting edge visibility and they won't have high flow aux. hydraulics like a skid.
If I had to have one machine on a job it would be a TLB. But the thing is I don't have to have one machine on a job so I choose equipment more suited for what I'm doing.
Can you take a TLB and switch from forks to a bucket in under 20 seconds? Can it run a rotary mower or a mulcher head?
Trust me it's not a lack of hours in the seat of a TLB. It's just I don't like them.
We've only ever had one that I liked. It was a Deere 510D that was bought new by the water company. It was plumbed to the front with a 4-in-1 and plumbed to the rear for a hammer.
They are predicting violent thunderstorms, hail and tornadoes for our area. What's funny is that it is beautiful outside right now. A little humid, (only 81%...ha ha) but nice.
Oh, in case y'all were wondering. Some of you wanted to be updated on how my collection was going for my buddy's funeral.
I was able to collect all $5600, all thru donations. He will have a proper burial. Susan and I are going to head over to the funeral home and pay the bill when they open.
Jim....thank you.
Here's what we can expect today:
Pete you got a few of them, I didnt realize a person had to have an extinguisher or triangles to pass a safety! I thought it was just a mechanical safety haha. I also have illegal head lights, a mysterious wire problem that I didnt have this morning when I left the yard, have to replace a board in the box, my mud flaps were apparantly too short, and I think thats about it, besides the bushings on the suspension.
Oh winshield washer mysteriously quit working, same with a auxillary fan in the cab.
Im really not sure how to tell what model of suspension I have Ray, I am very inexperienced when it comes to chalmers suspension. Any clues or hints I could check out?
Have you replaced those bushings before?
Sounds like you'll be staying within the trades though, so thats good. There is such a shortage of good tradespeople these days, everyone wants to go to college and avoid good ole' fashioned hard labor. We have adds on the radio all the time about it here.
My thoughts- The human body was designed to work, and then some. If your gonna sit at a desk you better be going to the gym or walking or something, or your setting yourself up for some health problems later in life. Now Im not talking about diggin ditches all day and killing yourself, but working hard, damn thats just good for you!
I need some coffee too!

You aren't going to East St. Louis are you? Susan is from DeSoto, MO and she tells me stories about East St. Louis....yikes!
Glad your donation drive went well Scott. I sure wish I could have sent you some. I spent too much on mods now every penny for the next few weeks is precious.
Good to see you are still ok Brent.
Good morning everyone else.
Oh and Jim. Some fiber optic lines were cut near Nolan so they were without phone service for most of yesterday. He posted a link yesterday evening.
