Pat, have you taken him to see a Dr. to see if he has ADHD?
I have a nephew (well sort of, my brother's wife's son) and he was a super majorly hyper kid. They put him in soccer, and it was just exactly what he needed. he burns off energy like crazy in sports and is a straight A student now. No medication, either.
Our Doctor has said that he needs a good teacher, not medicine.. I like our Dr.. Christian is in soccor, two times a week now, and Cubscouts. Although he is grounded, he is still involved in the soccer and the cubscouts, he needs an out, and I know this, so keeping him in the house will make it worse at school, but not doing anything, anyhow, catch 22..
Get this, yesterday, a little girl got hit in the head with a soccer ball during the game.. Christian ran over to the little girl and helped her off the field..
As far as the Straight A thing, thats cool!! What I remember as well as what I am seeing again, is that problem solving is the strong point, example of this is math, repairing things, they are not boring. Reading onad writing on the other hand is when you may loose him..
I agree on the medicine thing. I am anti-medicine in a lot of ways, I think our society is way overmedicated.....ESPECIALLY when it comes to kids.
I think you're doing the right thing for him in focusing his attention elsewhere, and he'll learn to work through it on his own.
We shall see.. It is going to be hell for him...
I keep telling him to follow his Cubscout Motto, at school as well as sports. IF he does that, then there will be no reason to be grounded. Sadly, I think he is taking it the wrong way, and is doing his best at screwing around
The house here in Erie is 98% done! We just need a few things (coat rack, computer table/desk) to finish up some little areas. Garage is 80% organized too.
My friend Paul is playing poker on Saturday night, so he came over to practice some Texas Hold 'Em. Ended up being 7 of us goofing off, talking crap, razzing Paul over being a Brit, and just basically had an awesome time of it!! Everyone went home around 11PM last night. Tonight might be Rockband (xbox or wii) over at Jen & Max's house.
Hope y'all are having fun. 1/8" of snow here the other day, and nothing in the forecast, but snowboarding @ Vail on Tuesday was awesome!! Today should hit 42* and 49* tomorrow.
Good morning everyone.
Had lunch with Kriss and Erica yesterday at a place called The Ram.
Shrimp fajitas, good enough to eat the entire serving.
I was still full when I went home that evening, LOL.
