So I've been running the past week or so. I am already feeling stronger and I can run longer, but I still struggle with my breathing. Even back when I was running 3 miles/day, I still had breathing issues. My muscles are fine and I feel good but I have to slow down because I keep getting winded... I had a runner tell me once, in the nose and out your mouth, but its hard to control. Suggestions?

Lisa, I know the question wasn't directed at me, but a trick that I tell all the sailors that have the same problem when running their PRT is to pick a song, a beat, a cadance if you will. Follow that beat with your breathing. Almost as if you're making a song out of your breathing. This will relax your lungs and train them to a certain breathing pattern.

Well, with what you do for a living, you definitely qualify for giving advice. I will give it a try. Put a special playlist on my ipod specifically for running...Thanks!
