I'm on the lookout for a new laptop, but with the work I do and setup I have at home, I need to buy Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, and stores only seem to have "Home" versions... bummer.

I would search for a deal on a puter that I liked then add the O/S
Tiger Direct sells both 7 pro and ultimate O/S from $150,They also have some deals on puters sometimes or they will build to suit
Ray - thanks, I forgot about TD. I might buy the OS from them, but never every buy h/w from them. Too many horror stories, especially if there's a rebate involved....
I currently have a Dell Precision M70 that could probably run W7, but it's already 4yrs old, and I'd like to get 64-bit h/w, run a 64-bit OS & maybe have (eventually) 8GB of RAM on it. 4GB will do me fine for now, but if/when i run virtual machines off it, I'll need the extra, and a 32-bit OS just ignores more than 3GB pretty much.
Two sets of jumper cables works wonders on 24V.Done right you can jump 24V off of your pickup
I think you'd have to have a dual-battery setup for that. But what you CAN do is use two trucks side by side...
Go from the negative on one battery to the positive on the other, then go from the other two posts to the 24V battery (I think...)
By the way - since this does look like a friv thread, I'd like to frivolously invite everyone to check out the 2009 FTE Championship FINALS that are going on in the General Automotive forum - the link to it is all over my signature below.
~ There's a whole lotta fantastic trucks in there...
*Seems to me it was Lisa that gave me that excellent picture to use in my sig too!
Haha yeah,...you can tell I'm worn out because I don't catch stuff like that..

I want a Macbook Pro...only thing I can't figure out is if Snow Leopard will run my CS suite...

Well since I drive a 7.3 it'd work out fine. Dual batteries come stock. But it was dad there on Monday morning (I had school. blech) and he drives a gasser so that wouldn't work for him.
With a dual battery setup, you'd still have to disconnect one of 'em and connect it in series. But it's simple enough: 12V + 12V = 24V
I just went through the battery blues, myself. Got a stray wire trapped under the dang battery and it beat the insulation to death. This not only fried the wire, but melted a hole in the bottom of the battery case
Scratch one 1150 CCA truck battery... I'm lucky it didn't start a fire in there.
And of course, the price of batteries has gone through the roof just like everything else

Mark Twain was right about relatives!
