I would rather have straight shifts Tom, but the powers that be like everybody rotating. I would pick straight midnights in a heartbeat if I could though.

i remember you saying that when you left the academy. i thought you meant you were going back on nights permanently though.

I wish I was. I'm closing in on twenty years of swingshift and it has gotten really old over the years. All of my people are in favor of straight shifts but it's convincing the Brass to let us switch to it that's difficult.

That's always been the problem. The other three Sergeants and I have come up with at least ten different work schedules that everybody was in favor of but the Brass won't let us switch to any of them. It's that upper management mentality that if it isn't their idea, it's not a good idea.

Well, I took my day of rest literally today. I've got my list to take care of Wednesday and Thursday when I'm off.
