Well I get home today to the news that I am low bidder on is getting awarded to a different company. 
Apparently they are allowed to go with a higher bidder if they are within 5%.
I intend to "help" them with their math and make sure the other bid isn't even one red cent more than 19994.73$ which is 105% of my bid. And I'll file a letter of bid award protest. And write letters to the editors of the newspapers for that town.
This is the same town as the one we mowed roadsides in last year. The bid is under the same company name as the roadside mowing was. Plus dad did this EXACT job in the 80s before my brother was born.
They are going to be awarding the bid to the company that did it last year because "They didn't have any major complaints."

And Lisa: Just a little reminder. Vitamin C comes from orange juice, etc. Vitamin D (and Calcium) come from milk. Sunshine helps your body process Vitamin D.

Pete I am so sorry to hear that. It is so damn common though it is sickening. There is another electrical contractor here that gives you an estimate and not a proposal. Most homeowners don't realize the difference. He will "estimate" a price say on a new house, he tracks the job and if comes in under the estimate then he charges you the price on the estimate, if it goes over her hands you a bill for the above and beyond and tells you that it was an estimate and not a proposal.

Yea. It confirms my doubts about putting a deposit on a mower before it was officially awarded. Had I put down a deposit on the mower already I'd be stuck.
