Hey everyone, between being busy with the Border Transistion Team change-over and not getting my main email source (AOL) I haven't been keeping up lately. I didn't go over the few thousand post I missed here, but I just saw that Mark passed away, man what a total motivation killer. I thought he was doing ok last he was on. Damn now I'm pissed I didn't get to say much to him before he left us..... at least I know he's now once again standing tall in his Dress Blues guarding the streets of gold in heaven. Mark buddy, we'll meet up one day and sway sea stories!
Phew, on a lighter note its good to be back. I'm working on my 3rd letter, so I won't spoil all the details for those "subscribing" but yesterday was eventful, I "saw" 2 Blackwater Hueys get shot at by the Syrians, and another MRAP got hit by an IED. It was an ANFO home made explosive, just like what brought down the IRS building in Oklahoma years ago, just a helluva lot smaller charge. But the truck did what it's designed to do, and that's keep the occupants alive, and all 4 walked away.I swear at times this place is like the wild west LOL. BTW- for those who do get my letters, my new email address is ITSMEDAN1775@YAHOO.COM so don't add that addy to your spam list hehe. Ya'll take care, I'm sick (the crud is going around) and I'm tired, so I'm gonna get some rest.
So, when I was working on my truck yesterday I disconnected the batteries. Did my work, then went about hooking the batteries back up. I made sure all the connections were good and clean first. I connected the positive lead on the first battery then moved on to the negative. Imagine my suprise as I was tightening the terminal and got a good connection the truck started. WTF? Look over to confirm that my keys are still laying on the work bench where I left them. Yep, there they were. I grab them, hop in the truck, put the keys in and cycle the ignition on & off a couple times to no effect. Then I had the bright idea of stepping on the brake pedal. That did it. Only thing I can think is it reset the auto start and fired up. Almost crapped myself.
Dang Jay good thing your hands weren't in a bad spot- ouch!! I miss working on my truck, fixing these dirty, mud-encrusted humvees sucks! These things have over a years worth of dust, dirt, sand, and mud on them. The last team never cleaned them, but then again water is kind of a tight commodity being it has to be trucked in, and we don't have a pressure washer, or a even a garden type hose for that matter hehe.
