I didn't. I think Randy would cry if I tried to watch Extreme Trains. He gets to stare at them all day and when he comes home he usually isn't interested in anything train related. Can't say I blame him.
Did you know North Platte is the biggest train yard in the world? I'm sure they talked about that on the show.
Yep, my Grandpa used to work there for PFE. They lived on North Jefferson, right across Front St from the yard. I used to sit on the porch and count engines and cars all day when I was little.
Evening everyone! True to the Marine Corps motto, "hurry up and wait" we were supposed to fly out at about noonish, so just about the entire team planned on sleeping in till about 8am, but then a fellow Gunny turned on the light and sounded REVEILLE at 0700.. He about got shot LOL, but told us our travel plans got bumped to 0900 fly out. So we all rushed to get clean up, pack our crap and get chow. We're briefing at 0830, when we hear the CH-53 inbound, so we grab our crap and run out to the pad. Turns out the manifest changed last minute so they have to come back for us later. What a PITA..... SO, I used the extra time to say hi!!
Joe, nice MRAP. I got licensed in them back at Pendleton, but we don't have any for our team, and I'm glad- they are like Cadillacs on the road, but off road, PHEW- you better get ready for a beating! The restraint system is crappy to say the least, and the poor pax in the back get the hell beat out of them!! I'm glad we got our not-so-safe uparmored Humvees!
Lisa sent you cigars?? Man our team would like some cigars! The PX truck drove into camp yesterday, and me being out of Copenhagen ran to get some. Well, I guess we were the last stop LOL, because all they had left was a 5 can roll of apple skoal, and one of Peach Skoal. So now my mouth smells like Johnny Appleseeds azz, but it works hehe.

LMFAO!!!!!
Thats funny right there!!!!
Glad your checking buddy! Cant help but to worry about yall over there!
Oh wait I mean i cant help but to worry "aboot" yall over there...
(that was for Sheldon)
Man I wouldn't worry- any IED's are targeted toward the ISF (Iraqi Security Forces) and we haven't had any threat in God knows how long. The worst we run into is the retarded Syrians shooting in the air whenever we go to check out the border fort outpost at the Euphraytes river. They never point at us though, cause we'd smoke those fools and you'd hear about it on the 6 o'clock new for sure!!
I used to dip Apple a few years back, at least it doesn't fall apart like Copenhagen, and last longer too. Glad you like the phrase though hehe
I cant remember the last time I had 8 hours of sleep at once. Im a 5-6 hour sleeper. Much more then that and I tend to get pretty lazy feeling for the rest of the day.

Ask and ye' shall receive...
I'll PM you to get your addy -- it's the least I can do. The folks here really took care of me while I was over there, now I can "pay it forward", so to speak.

A month or so ago, I was laying in bed, couldn't sleep. It had just snowed, real quiet outside. I could hear off in the distance, two train whistles coming closer and closer. They were two different engines, probably one IAIS and one CRANDIC. Two different whistles and they were talking to eachother as they passed. It was a beautiful sound, it was almost like a real slow song... but you really have to enjoy trains to be able to understand it I suppose.

Same goes here. This is Cedar Rapids, they must have a good cigar shop.
