Thanks everyone. I called the ER and all that they could tell me is that he is with a surgeon already. One thing I have learned is that these things always look worse in the plant than they do after they are at a hospital and cleaned up. Hoping that is the case this time as well. Been busy with the accident investigation and write up. Lots of paperwork in these situations.
As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman
other than his wife naked, and that he must commit suicide if he does. So
next Saturday at 4 PM. Eastern Time, all American women are asked to walk
out of their houses completely naked to help weed out any neighborhood
terrorists. Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this
anti-terrorist effort.
All men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their houses
to prove they are not Muslims, and to show support for all American women.
Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is
further proof of your anti-Muslim sentiment.
The American government appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and
applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity. God bless America .
Hate to hear stuff like that Scott. Hope the guy is going to be ok. I about lost a thumb one time in hydraulic vise on a band saw. Had a piece of tubing in getting ready to cut and it got my thumb caught between the jaw and the tubing. I sat in the emergency room for 5 hours before I ever even got to a room for the doc to see me.
When it happened I jerked my thumb out and looked at it, said to myself...A bandaide aint gonna fix this. So I spit my dip out and went into the office and the secretary lady freaked the **** out. I just told her that it was going to take a little more than a bandaide for this.
Im not so sure on the legal weight thing. Legally a 5.4 can haul more weight than a 7.3 because the diesel weighs more. The dually is rated for more but the legal GVW should be the same. Ive seen plenty of SRW trucks haul a full load of salt. Personally Id only do it if it was one of those newer plastic ones instead of the stainless steel ones since its ALOT lighter
Salt weighs about 1500 pounds per ton. Most of these pickup truck sanders are 2 or 3 yards. That is 3,000-4,500 pounds. Sander's gotta be at least 500 pounds even if it's an electric operated plastic sander. That puts you at 3500-5000 pounds. The plow and pump have to be 500 pounds all put together at the very least. That puts you at 4,000 - 6,500 pounds. GVWR is 9,900 pounds on my truck. That means the truck would have to weigh between 3400 and 5900 pounds. I have a hard time believing it would be that light. Even if it was that's awfully heavy for a single rear truck.
I wouldn't put a V-box spreader in anything less than a DRW 350. A tailgate spreader would be OK since you probably couldn't get over 500 pounds of material in it.
A lot of guys do put V-box spreaders in SRW 350s and even 250s, but they are definitely over their legal limit. Those are also the guys that run everywhere with strobes going.
Update on my adhesive operator. He has been taken to Houston for surgery. His hand is ok but he lost his right index finger completely. We found most of it mashed and laying on the floor under the rollers. It was too mangled to fix.
