Brent in your post you didn't sound like a smart azz. You know way more then I do about framing.

I thought 2X4s were only made in 8' sections, I now see that they are made in bigger lengths. Steel studs would be way too expensive. Cost is a huge factor on this project, I hope to keep the cost for materials anywhere from $500-750.

I got to do all the fun stuff when I specialized in industrial control wiring.
We too an apple and put it in the blast freezer. It shattered when we took it out and threw it against the cement.

I owe you guys an apology. This has been my favorite group to participate with, and I have let way too many little things slide. If I had done a better job maintaining FTE's policies over the last couple of years these relatively minor changes wouldn't be an issue now.
It hasn't just been the last few weeks of "the powers that be" cracking down/moving the O/T, the new sig rules... it's been building for a while, and I've simply had enough. Honestly, if I could get refunded for my "unused time" as a Supporter I'd gladly take it.

Here's my thing:

YES, this is a technical forum about Ford Trucks.

YES, it is and should be "family friendly".

YES, we must play by the rules.

BUT

What makes this site exist is the people.

What advertisers pay for is the # of people that may see their ads.

What happens is that people with a common interest congregate.

Our 7.3 group is unique. I've been on many other forums and while people are helpful there too, there is never quite the community feeling that exists amongst this group. Mark has been MIA for a few days with health issues and people here are GENUINELY concerned.

Have we pushed the limits and then some, especially for a 'family site'? YES. I'm guilty too. When I was a kid, Playboy was on the newsstand. Did my Dad let me pick it up? NO. So while we should tone down some things, to be forced to be so PC is abhorrent.

The message I'm seeing from those above you is that they will do whatever they darn well please, no explanations, nothing. Instead of talking to people and involving them in a solution, we are forced in to dealing with what they decide is fair.

I came originally to get help with my 7.3. I found a group that became more than just helpful, I found some friends. I've talked with several on the phone, and will be visiting them, or they me, soon. Does it happen on other forums? Certainly. But never have I seen it build to this extent.

"They" will sit back and care not a whit. So be it. I'll share my knowledge with those I meet, but can't recommend people to join this site any longer.

Okay good. I'd go with 2x6 for that height though, as otherwise it will be very wavy/flexy. The Timberstrand (LSL) I mentioned earlier will be out of the range then. Just go with 2x6, 24'' oc (on center) single bottom plate, and double top. Is this outdoors?? you could go with exterior grade plywood in 1/2'' or maybe 3/4 if money allows, paint it and be good for awhile. Sorry if I missed it, but is this inside or outside? how long will it be needed? seasonal? take it down when done? sorry I have more questions for you and would like to steer you correctly lil bro!

I know what you mean for sure. I might be heading down to Portland soon for some snowmobiling, that may be all the play I get this year.
