I haven't been on much lately, been working a LOT. Been on the road more then at home, pretty much turning out in less then 12hrs at home! Christmas is coming next week and I'm STILL not done shopping lol (and it's still snowing!)
Alright Jake, no worries. I've got one to make you feel better. Before this truck, i had a brand new Z71, and with about 400 miles on it I took my girlfriend (now wife) to the river to show off how great it was. I tried driving through a part I knew was shallow and shoudnt be a problem. Well, it got stuck, bad, in the river. The more I tried to get us out, the deeper it got, until I had glacier water running in the cab of the brand new truck.... 3 toyota's had to pull me out for my stupidity...
I do believe I'd have paid money to have seen this.......................Mostly because the truck was brand new and you were showing off!

back when i was younger, and a littler more stupid, i went on a beer run with my 3 day old 88 superduty 4X4. the bar was 6 miles away on the roads and closed at 3 am, and it was 2:50 am. i locked the truck into 4wheel, and off i went through the farm fields cutting 4 miles off the drive. when i left the field and got on the road, i slapped the t-case in 2 wheel.
got to the bar on time, put 10 cases of beer in the back of the truck, and off i went back to the farmhouse.
i figured the closest way was the way i went to the bar, so down the road i went, and turned into the field. halfway across a 40 acre field, the truck stopped dead, sunk to the frame-rails!!
jackazz forgot to put it back into 4 wheel when i left the road, and the weight of the diesel sucked it rite down into the wet spot i drove through.
20 minutes later, one of the rookies on the police dept comes banging on the door of the farmhouse to tell them there is a truck stuck in the field, and do they went him to get another officer to check it out.
(he was looking for me, cause i was still listed as a member of the PD on disability at the time)
one of the guys came out in a 4 cylinder jeep CJ7, and pulled me 3 feet backwards to get me unstuck after i put the t-case back in gear.
once i unhooked the chains, i drove rite back through the same spot i was stuck in, cause i now had 4 wheel drive working.
it took 5 years to live down the fact that a 4 cylinder jeep had to pull me out of the mud.
Well Im off for a 5 hour drive, to go workout today and tomorrow morning, then heading right back here
Hope ya all have a good day!
Sheldon....you drive A LOT eh?
My wife just called me, it looks like we might have close to 3 FEET of snow at my house now lol. (Global warming anyone?) Thank god for 4 wheel drives eh? She was concerned her SUV wouldn't get out of the garage, but I know it will.....it's a Sorento, and it is GREAT in the snow. One of the few SUV's left with a true 4wd, instead of that "all wheel drive" crap. Never liked the idea of a computer running my drivetrain!
Travis, 3 feet? Sounds interesting. Tell your wife not to go out unless she absolutely has to. With limited wheelbase, 3' of snow can get you stuck faster than you think...unless of course all of the roads have been plowed.

Wow. Three feet! We will be lucky to get that for a TOTAL all season.

Snow hasnt started here yet. Cold, but clear.
it's just piled up in the driveway....the plows are doing a pretty good job, we have a ton around here. She'll be fine, I have taught her well I have 5 foot drifts in the backyard! I'll get pics tomorrow maybe.....but it's looking like I'll be right back to work when I get home again.......C'mon Christmas vacation!!!!!!!!
I guess the majority of them got damaged in the big flood that hit Cedar Rapids back in May.
So it snows, no plow. If the snow starts to measure up in Feet...it'll be just me and the guy down the street with the lifted Dodge that can get out. Everyone around here drives cars.
Edit: just checked the forecast. We're supposed to get thunder snow. Cooool. They are also saying 3/4" of ice will fall before the snow starts. Slip slidin away......slip sliding away. You know the nearer your destination, the more you slip sliding away...
